Has your upgrade from 9500i to 9500ix turned out to be a mistake like mine has?
I don't know any way to make this short. Last April, I sent Escort my perfectly functioning 9500i to be upgraded to 9500ix. I thought I'd mostly get back my original, perfectly functioning detector, upgraded to "ix" status. Boy, was I wrong. I was sent what appeared to be a completely different detector. It came in a new hardcase with all new accessories. Problem is that the GPS function on this new detector was and still is weak and intermittent. Under clear skies, sometimes I can drive for 60 miles (to the lake or back) and it'll never lock on at all. Picking it up at our mail center today (for the third time) I plugged it in for the 25 minute trip home. The satellite symbol never stopped spinning until I parked in our driveway. In the driveway, when compared side-by-side to my wife's unmodified 9500i it repeatedly takes slightly over twice as long to lock on. That is, if it does lock on.
I'd like to know if any others have had GPS problems when trying to upgrade? Is it just my 9500i that Escort has screwed up or are there others?
I've talked to several CSRs and got different answers to the same question. I was last told that my old GPS board was modified and reinstalled. Well, if that's true, an upgraded 9500 is ripe for having GPS problems that a purpose-built board in a brand new 9500ix shouldn't have.
I also learned today that Escort employees do more butt covering for each other than I previously thought. I mentioned to one CSR that the same tech that supposedly "replaced" my "modified original" GPS board two different times, couldn't spell the word "board". In response to my concerns, I was informed of the numerous educational degrees that all the techs possessed and how they also had twenty years of detector repair experience. There was not a hint of sympathy for the fact that I might have a legitimate concern when the same tech who couldn't fix my detector in two different attempts also insisted in spelling the word "board" without the "a".
If I can't have reliable GPS function anymore I may as well get the one with the arrows - ya think?
Lastly, I'm beginning to believe that any talk of Escort customer service being excellent may not be justified.

Follow-up on my GPS problem upon upgrading to 9500ix: I think Escort did put its' best foot forward in an effort to finally resolve the weak GPS. Limited, initial observations indicate the upgraded 9500ix is now achieving GPS lock-on nearly as quick as the older 9500i that my my wife uses (which is like my 9500i did before the upgrade). Time will tell if it stays locked on reasonably well. Will report back when that's determined.

Hopeful it's fixed for good. Did the same upgrade well over a year ago and never had an issue.

Glad to hear your upgrade went well but upon further checking I think mine is still not right. I'm going to make a new post that might help get to the bottom of this.
