What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
I have a Redline detector and once in a blue moon I receive an alert the spec is 33.6xx. I usually assume that some how this is a LEO somewhere but I just cant find the target. Now I'm starting to think that this is someone using a Cobra detector am I Wrong ??? I know that when a LEO use radar it is usually 33.8, but I have been seeing 33.6xx once in a blue moon while driving. Could this be a radar detector from a bad cobra ??? or could this be a LEO driving by and I just cant find the target.
I have Band 2/5/8 ON and all other segmentation bands off, TSR OFF, X BAND OFF, K BAND OFF, Laser ON I live in NYC all I need on are 2/5/8 and Laser on.
Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
I live and drive in Toronto, Toronto Police have been using Ka 33.8 MPH police radar for years now, out of 100+ REAL Ka 33.8 alerts, maybe 2-3 false Ka alerts, all around 34.7 or 35.5, one of them coming from a very expensive Bang & Olufsen store in midtown Toronto (Yorkville area), personally I know immediately that when the alert is outside +/- 100 MHz for each Ka band, it's automatically a false.
NO Cobras or other crappy RDs in Toronto or rest of Ontario, RDs illegal here for 30 years maybe, better odds to win the $100M jackpot than driving by somebody with a non-stealth Cobra-like RD.
Try to go back to the very same location/area where you got the Ka 33.6xx alert and see if you get it again, look for something very expensive around, a brand-new hotel or a BMW or MB dealership, if not, maybe was indeed a crappy Cobra-like RD, personally I have no experience dealing with Cobras in Toronto.
PS All Toronto Police REAL Ka 33.8 alerts I've got on my STI Driver in the past 7+ years have been in the 33.7 to 33.9 range, mostly very close to the perfect 33.8, +/- of course, NEVER lower than 33.7 or higher than 33.9.
Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
I have to admit I do drive a Audi A4 and I remember when I use to drive a Chevy Impala and I had a V1 in my car the V1 would detect a Infinfi and BMW or Audi cruse control system. The only thing is I do not drive cruse control at all on my car. There is not a certain location where this happens it only happens once in a blue moon while i'm driving on the highway.
The reason why I ask this was because I thought with the Band Segmentation there should not be any false alerts from other radar detectors.

Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
Many years ago while driving somewhere in Ohio on some whatever interstate, all over sudden BANG... LASER alert but no freakin' cop around, on the road, on the overpass, off/on ramp, front or rear, so I looked around and... a freakin' local airport with those huge out-of-space NASA dish antennas, that's where the false laser alert came from. What I'm trying to say is that once in a while, very rarely, some modern device (like those expensive CC systems in an Infiniti, BMW, Audi, MB, Volvo, etc.) might set off ANY high-end RD. Next to impossible to figure out what the real source of the false alert is or was. Personally I wouldn't get too concern especially knowing how much off range (33.7-33.9) that particular Ka 33.6xx false alert was.
As NO crappy Cobra-like RDs in my area, I have no clue on how those cheap Cobras are able to set off an expensive and modern high-end RD. Maybe ppl who drive in areas where crappy RDs are present can share their own opinions on your particular case.
Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
33.6 is a freq reported from cobras, also 35.3....
Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
I have found satellite dishes give off this frequency sometimes as well.
Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
33.6xx is the most common Ka false on a 2/5/8 band seg'd RedLine with RDR off......once in a blue moon a 35.4xx will sneak through as well.
Since I always run in spec mode I know what frequencies are used in my area and 33.8 is not one of them, the closest MPH Ka units to me are down in New Jersey. So for my local area I've killed segment 2 and replaced it with segment 6 as insurance against any 34.7 Stalkers running on the high side. I've seen very few Stalkers running lower than 34.68x but more than a few up above 34.77x so I added some padding there.
Since converting to the 5/6/8 sweeps and pairing it with EL for K-Band lockouts it only barks at real radar.....and those damn lane assist systems that spew K-Band.:p
Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
This setup sound really interesting and I think I will try it. I live in NYC so they never ever use 33.8 (at least I have never seen a alert from one in years) they always use 34.7 and a State Troopers on Long Island uses 34.7 and maybe 35.5. This is what I have learn in my years of driving with a radar detector. Upstate NY Troopers use 34.7 guns and some use lasers in NYC it is all about Laser (very OUT OF CONTROL) and 34.7 freq. State Troopers on Long Island uses 34.7. Is there a better range with this Band Segment ??? or probably the same range of just having 2/5/8 on ??
I'm wondering if you justr leave band segmentation 5 on is the detection greater ??? oorrr does not make a difference.
Re: What could this alert mean 33.6xx ??
33.6GHz was a repeat offender with my none BS redline. Uniden and corbra leak like a hole in a bucket way down. Drove me to the point of not owning the redline anymore. You can see what a great thing BS is for escort. Now they don’t need to worry about failed filtering code.
