Hp 436hp seems very quiet? Begining to wonder how out of date radio reference is?
My brand new uniden hp436hp seems to be very quiet up here these day's even with the latest firmware, and databases from Uniden? Starting to wonder if perhaps Radio Reference is a tad too out of date and perhaps I might have to sit down and use discovery mode one of these days. Sat through a winter storm the other day on lunch for an hour and heard two alerts on the scanner. One was merely a simple pager test, the other was legit emt's being dispatched, but no police action in an entire hour is totally unheard of? Just seems fishy to me. Not sure if it's the database, or how the 436hp is setup to scan. Most times in the cities it clicks off non stop almost. Here it's dead quiet with the occasional radio traffic? Looks like an amazing scanner, audio is great. But just idk. I feel as if I may be missing a ton of radio traffic which is weird considering the radio is tdma II phase II apco 25, and apco 25 phase I, plus analog? Makes little to no sense to me. Plus i have 700Mhz coverage. I would think i'd be hearing more, not less? My 396t seemed to get much more radio traffic? Perhaps scanning too much these day's idk?

I have not been into scanners for awhile since they began trunking and encoding but there is a thread here you may find helpful -http://forums.radioreference.com/uniden-tech-support/296038-news-photographer-ditches-brand-new-436hp-film-11-a-2.html

Did you enable the services you want to listen to? That's what I ran into when I first got mine.

Maybe the agencies you were listening to have moved to an encrypted mode?
Re: Hp 436hp seems very quiet? Begining to wonder how out of date radio reference is
, the issue with the unit not keeping clock time is fixed. I just added (scannermaster ) did a 8Gb sd card. Mine sure isn't quiet and I live in a very rural part of Arizona.
