Whats you Automotive pet peeve...........?

I love getting up on my soap box on occassion.

But I will keep it to a minimum.............LOL


And I will try to protect the innocent or guilty. If any of these apply to you, reconsider your life or the source, me.............:)

1. The habit of Chevrolet putting the SS moniker on a front wheel drive v6.
If it is an SS it better live up to the name. Please!!!!!!

2. People that come to a stop directly behind the car in front of them at a traffice lite. And dont realize that that car in front has their left turn signal on. HOW DO YOU MISS THAT????????? Then they are all in a tizzy to pass the car on the right..........duh...........

3. Hyundai Tucson??????? Maybe that should be Hyundai Incheon??

Rice rockets. Not the kind with a built motor, mind you, but the kind with the absolutely bone-stock motor running on heavy 18" wheels with a flimsy body kit that flaps in the wind unbeknownst to the driver. The fart-pipe exhaust that sounds like a hive of bees AND kills off any hope of making torque off the line. It's japanese letters on a Chevy Cavalier, a giant aluminum wing on basically anything, spinners, and a "cold air intake" on a stock engine...mounted directly over the exhaust manifold. Not to mention the kids who think they are fast and weave like morons to prove their point. That's what drives me nuts.

Did I mention that I really like my Honda? :lol:

I have a gang of those guys that live near me. They like to ride around with their cars all in line, pop the clutch to bark second, and downshift to brake. I have never seen one of them with a girl in the car. I call them The Slow and the Bi-Curious!

My automotive pet peeve would be SUV's. I park next to one and then when I go to back out, I can't see around it or over it. This then causes me to make another SUV driver mad when I blindly back out in front of them! I think they should be required by law to install another rear view mirror on the back bumper so people can back out of parking spaces! :twisted:

i hate idiots that go slow in the fast lane then hit their high beams at you when you go around them...mann that peeves me.

I parked next to an Eclipse once that had a clear plexiglass hood. Now I was intrigued, so I checked it out. The guy had to spend big bucks on it. All the braided hoses, color coordinated paint. Chrome everywhere. And the outside was sticker free. Awsome paint, nicely done interior. Now I really dont know much about these engines, but it looked nice and I could see a cold air kit and maybe pulleys. So, I figured it may have some Go Goodies. The owner came out and I said hi, showed him my SS. We talked briefly. Then I asked him what it did in the 1/4? He gave me this blank stare..........:)

whats a 1/4???? im betting his mrs (mom) wont let him take it down there.....

and having to pre-pay for gas because of all the drive-offs! :twisted:

My auto pet peeve... erm, automatic trannies and when everyone is at a red light and they keep inching forward :x

My auto pet peeve, BESIDES slow drivers in the left lane, relates to that of SmartAasSaaber. When you drive stick, even when you are REALLY good at it, if you are on a big hill, you might roll back just a tad. I HATE people that stop right on your bumper whether you are on a hill or not. There is no reason to be 2 inches from my bumper!

I would have to say very distracted people talking on cell phones. I really hate when they sit at a light after it has turned green for a while or wrecklessly change lanes and/or turn suddenly without checking their mirrors or using their turn signals. One chick did both then as she was turning off the road gave me the finger. :evil:

actually jbird you are correct...man i hate that....or they sit in the fast lane 20mph under the limit on their cellphone....i have a big car so i just hi beam them and they get the message with a 2 tonne car 1 inch off thir bumper :twisted:

Im also with Brick on this one, I hate ricers. esspecially when they have automatic trannys. i cant stand seeing a civic with a huge wing, folgers fart can exhaust, and an unpainted body kit. im mean just leave it stock, it looks 10x better. i've got a friend with a 240sx that puts out 330hp, thats not a ricer. thats a fast car that doesnt have anything on it thats pointless. but my main pet peeve of automotives, Tailgaters. i hate em. if you tailgate me your front bumper will be meeting my towing package. :lol: . i aslo cant stand drivers who dont pay attention. example- the light turns green and their looking for something on the floor, or the car in-front of you has to turn left so he slows down, you slow down behind him but the driver behind you isnt paying attention so he/she slams on their brakes and barely misses you by turning to the right and ending up right beside you on somebody's lawn (this happened to me the other day lol). oh yeah, and keeping my car clean. i cant stand it when its dirty.

Door dings from inconsiderate folks.

Folks throwing trash and lit cig butts out the window.

Excessively loud stereos.

Bass you can hear from blocks away.

People who don't signal.

Left lane bandits.

My personal Pet Peeve is the person, (I think it was the little [saving the expletives] down the street) who has keyed my car a total of 3 times.

Of course I don't have comprehensive insurance because I figure I'd save money without it, I mean, who would key my car? And when it happened once, why would it happen twice? And twice, a third must be unreasonable...

Other than that I'd have to say Dyno-Queens who show up at the track with 1100 hp dyno sheet (always, and I mean always, a Japanese car) then run like 13.6 or worse as they are laid out by American Iron.

Someone mentioned trying to back out around an SUV that parked next to you, That's soo true. Even if your in another SUV or truck you still can't see past them. It's impossible to see, yet your the one that would get in trouble if you back out :(

People who don't use turn signals just suck. Sorry if it you?

Blue headlamps that make people get migraines from their intense color. It's hard to even check your mirrors. I just want to hit them with a high powered laser and see how they like it. I can even make it a Blue laser to be fair :)

People who wait until the last second to merge, or even worse get in the merge lane just so they can try to get in front of a few cars. I find SUV's and trucks try this most often. I think they feel because they are big they can get away with it. Yep you can if you want to pay the lawsuit.

Stupid Utility Vehicles, got to love em. More like Short Underachiever Vehicle.

Jelous... I drive a SUV and I can assure you I am one of the best drivers out there...I have even driven hi powered rally cars and drag cars and raced them and can prob beat most ricers in my SUV.

Ohhh your poor eyes it must be sooo horrible... I do alot of country driving and HID headlights are the best for that sort of driving, i used to run halogen but these new ones give me soo much better view of the road to avoid wildlife etc..

Oh, that's right. I totally forgot about people who don't respect other people's property. Like the idiots who slashed my girlfriend's tires in July while it was parked at my apartment complex. When the cops came to write it up they agreed that some young punk probably saw a really nice car and decided that he'd show the owner who's boss. They probably figured it was someone with lots of money who wouldn't care, rather than a college student who really couldn't afford the $600 repair bill. I was like "This seemed like a pretty nice town to me." The cops response: "Heh, welcome to the neighborhood." I will be moving when my lease is up.

Oh, I have a list of 200-odd peeves I compiled over the years, and most of them were driving related too... but my #1 lately has been people who don't even look before they pull out into traffic. I swear, my car must turn invisible as soon as I put it in gear, because people seem to cut me off like I'm not even there.

Here's a really good one. I was headed down a main road, and there were 2 cars on a side street waiting to pull out onto this road. As I approached them, the first one pulled out. Although they shouldn't have, I was still far enough back that I only had to brake gently to give him time to pull out. But, the 2nd car, behind him, pulled out in front of me too! Like WTF!?? I had to slam on the brakes and honk at them to avoid T-boning them. Perhaps I should have.

Another good one is when some idiot cuts you off and then honks at you like you cut THEM off.

Other pet peeves include stoplights that never stay green long enough, and idiots who get into the wrong lane and then decide to take a turn, or go straight in the turn lane. And idiots who go really slow through an intersection causing me to miss the (too-short) green light.

SUV's are not race cars, if you really think you can beat sports cars with an SUV I'll be happy to watch them pull your wrecked tank out of the ditch as they can't take turns like a sports car. If you feel they can you need a lesson on the laws of physics.

If I was to tank up today locally it would cost me nearly $80 to fill up my little four banger hatchback!

trust me m8, m8 suv out corners alot of sedans ;) and in a straight line blows alot of v8,s as well...

hahahike i care...I use mine to tow bikes, go offroad for a weekend away and carry loads in the boot for work...oh and also go fast...all the uses in the world for me.

Mine is when people are turning left from the STRAIGHT lane, and they don't signal, and they don't break (or their break lights are broken, whichever) and then you suddenly have to slow down or slam your breaks if they decide to do that.

It's proven that SUV's and driving more than 55 miles per hour kills babies!

Did I miss something? I did not hear anyone say they would race a SUV around a corner.

I can't believe how many of you have to say that your sports cars can out maneuver a SUV, Well I hope so because if it cant your car has major problems.

If you want to start stating the obvious then SUV drivers can say well hook a 10,000 lb load to the back of your car and see who out does who.

Both statements are so obvious that they really don’t need to be made.

I think that you are all upset because someone made a true statement that some SUVs can out accelerate some sports cars.

My Chevy Tahoe can blow the doors off a V8 mustang, both off the line and from cruising speed. As a matter of fact I did it the other day. It is funny to see how mad the mustang driver gets when they see that a huge vehicle can out accelerate their sports car.
I know that it can beat my SUVs in the turns, but that is why I also have a Porsche, a Jaguar, and a BMW.

My Pet Peeve is people that buy a cheap sports car and think they can beat anyone and anything.

Im not saying anyone here is like that, but I do know people who are.

Yeah so I had some fun with a V8 mustang "5.slow" and beat him in my little four banger :lol:

This was pretty funny... anyway I get onto the highway, and there is a white Mustang GT from the late 80's ahead of me, as I start to get up to cruising speed on the left lane. By now I'm going about 140km/h. He's ahead of me and I expect to catch up to him fairly quickly... but no, he stays up ahead :shock: - so this sounds like fun :D so I accelerate gently, 145, 150... and get up on his tail, then he takes his foot off the gas, so I slow down to about 125km/h. Anyway, he moves to the right (someone ahead of him), I follow suit, accelerate back up to 140-something and see he is moving away! OK, let's see what he can do! :lol: Anyway I get up to 165km/h behind him, and I still end up passing him at 120 miles per hour :lol:

Anyway, there is nothing written that says an SUV has to be slower, worse handling, burn more gas than a car.
