Im interested to know if you have exported a vehicle from the US to maybe a European destination. And if so, what was your experience, which company you used, and what the cost was. Im obviously asking this because i'm possibly planning to do this myself.
Talk to the Cubans, they seem to have a lot of experience with this.

If you have money, just buy a Saab / Mercedes / BMW or something, you can pick it up at the factory and drive it around and then they will ship it back to the US for you, and it costs you less money than just buying one off the lot (because it's a "used" car for tax)
Not sure what your shipping plans are. If your going to stay overseas your probably better off buying a European spec car.
However, a couple of guys from the Porsche forum would ship they're 911s over to Germany to drive on the Autobahn and Nurburgring. There's also a guy on the Corvette forum that did this with his C5 a few years ago.
$400-$700 average shipping to NY. Then $1000 to ship it to Germany. Takes about four weeks. Insurance added another $300-$400 to that.
These were round trips for these guys so you double the fees. I think they told me I should budget about 3k conservatively for shipping alone if I ever planned to do it.
The shipping company the Porsche guys used was called "Autobridge" but I was unable to find a web presence under that name. But there are a few others.
Motorcycles ship quite a bit cheaper for obvious reasons. Also, you can airfreight your car if you want it there really fast. But that's extremely expensive.
No need to worry about European specs my New Beetle is all Euro! But my goal is not ship back to US. I want to ship my car to my country and leave it there for whenever I go there on vacation.Quote:

That's different, you have to read up on specifications and tariffs and other things like that to import to EU.
Nice thing about EU is these things are typically well harmonised so the rules are all the same mostly.
Don't forget New Beetle are made in Mexico so you will probably have to pay a tariff... and do you have turn signals in front of the doors, orange turn signals in the back not red, km/h markings on speedo...
Now you CAN import a car "temporarily" to Europe to drive when you are there, but that is only good for about ~6 month or until you leave.
Why would you want to send a New Beetle to Europe??? I mean if you had some special car I'd understand it, but you can buy any boring ugly econobox in Europe, new or used.
