Thread Party! New STi

:cool: I got my Belltronic STi afternoon at 12 :). I was excited to try it out. So I went out like anybody does, when they have a :) nice new RD. I went to try it out on my highway, but I didn't have any good places to mount it, and I live in VA so I am trying not to be so suspicious. Sure enough my K band started to show and before I was making a curve around a highway, and then after making the turn I saw police cars flashing from a car wreck. Then on my way back, my K band started to beep again, and I was wondering what it was. Then it suddenly went full strength, and I noticed it was a State Trooper going in the other direction :).

YAY! I love my STi!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

CELEBRATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Now I need to figure out how to mount it with minimal hard wiring.
Oh, I was wondering. Why does the STi get so hot. It seemed hot for being in a AC'd car on a cloudy day. They should install heatsinks on this baby!

Cause it's HOT on many different levels!

:lol: I knew that you would start raving about your new STi. I was just waiting. Yep, the STi does get rather warm because it has a lot of electronics packed inside its dual horn antenna design as well as on its motherboard, and because two of its three LNA's are used to block primary local oscillator (LO) board emissions by absorbing the energy from the LO. Well, that absorbed and blocked energy has to go somewhere. It gets converted into heat.

Umm...for those who didn't notice...yes, the STi has three LNA's -- not two as Bel advertises.

So, I ended up mounting on the visor clip they gave me. it's not bad, though a lil distracting. I am guessing this method renders the rear laser detection useless, since that lil laser port is blocked by the visor.

The rear laser detection on just about any radar detector is all but useless anyway.

I don't really know from personal experience... Yo moma told me! She said she likes seeing 3 dancing bananas at once, but thinks its still a little gay ;)
