VEIL on my license plate doesn't work!

Hey guys

I have veiled my lights & license plate. however...yesterday i tested it using a digital camera, and the plate still gives off a hell lot of reflection? but as you can see in my avatar, my plate is already quite dark with the veil, why is it still so bright int he photo? does this mean it'll be fairly ineffective against laser guns? my lights are perfectly dark, no shine from the flash of the camera, but my plate is very bright!

VEil guy: pls help! i can't use lasersheild in Hong Kong.

Ouch, I see what you mean. If you cannot run a plate cover, or go without a plate I don't know that you have many other options. The only way to have a shot masking that plate would be to get a jammer. I would look at some of the tests that RacerX recently did with and without a plate and the difference is pretty big. Sorry I don't have a lot of helpful suggestions at this point. Where I live they don't really enforce the front plate requirement that closely so I don't run one.

I believe that VEIL is designed to block only near infrared light, while letting visible light pass.

Shining a light on the car at night can help to show you the areas that need to be treated with VEIL, but cannot show you how effective your treatment really is. While it might look reflective to you (visible light), it might look black to the laser gun (infrared).

I still have not had the chance to fully test out my veil's effectiveness.

Can the VEIL guy comment on this pls?
i definately did put enough veil on it as you can see in my previous posts and in my avatar, my plate is rather dark.

Well, the IDEA of Veil is to minimize visible light interference (otherwise it would make your headlights useless) but maximize infrared light blockage.

I wonder if shining a laser pointer on it would help? If you don't see a laser pointer reflection, that means it works, and if you do it means it doesn't? Doesn't that make sense?

A laser pointer wouldn't work since it's a red laser, not infrared. The best way to check your Veil (IMHO) is to use a camera or camcorder with an infrared mode (e.g. Nightshot on Sony cameras).

If your worried about it's effectiveness, get a jammer. Also you could see if you can get a Jap spec front plate mount and get a new smaller square type plate made up, which will have a smaller area than the rectangular, EU type.

I could do the Jap spec small plate, but it still wont make much of a difference.

I can't afford a jammer, and i'm very very scared of being caught with it.
