Marrying my 9500ix to a Laser Jammer
Hello...this is my second post as I just joined moments ago. After doing a lot of lurking research on many websites, I opted for the 9500ix (its features, capabilities, and limitations were right for me) to protect my Dodge Challenger SRT-8. This is the first radar detector I've ever owned.
I know I want laser protection on my Challenger. In addition to Veil G4, I am leaning towards a Blinder. I would consider the ZR4 as well based on some real world experiences I've read on forums and the fact that an Escort authorized dealer/installer is around the block from me.
My question: What specifically does "Shift + Link" do for me? I understand the ZR4 can integrate with the 9500ix but I'm confused on what the benefits are of doing so.
To break it down further...I'm assuming the Blinder would give me an audio alert once I'm hit with laser to slow down. Once Blinder alerts of a laser, I'm going to slow down. It doesn't need to be linked to my 9500ix to get my attention. Does the ZR4 linking actually serving a purpose to provide better or more efficient protection?

No it does not provide any better protection, just lets you manage the jammer and radar detector all in one device. Cool feature, but if you want better performance get the Blinder.

Marrying your RD to a lame jammer makes about as much sense as marrying a fat girl when you have a beautiful girlfriend. There's zero benefit to it, and people will question your sanity for even considering it.
Shifters would be total fail on your vehicle, and cost more than Blinders, which actually work.

Get laser interceptors, they work amazing from what I saw at the LIDAR testing we had recently around here. Pricey but man do they just work

First off...thanks for all the fast responses. My wife is irritated as hell that I've been doing this "research" all night...but at least I have some data.
I was considering the LI based on GOL's testing and pretty much how everybody else raves about them. I did read on one or two sites how the LI's customer service is horrible. And that concerns me considering I may shell out 600-1500 for their product. Any thoughts on this.
Irregardless...from the responses so far I'm being pushed in my original direction. Looks like Blinders it is. I just have to decide if I want to wait on their new model to release.

LI customer service is amazing that was old LI service now that Cliff has taken charge no issues he is there for you like 24/7

They are sites with an agenda to sell something other than the LI. There are dozens of LI users here on this forum, and you won't find a one of them to complain about current customer service. It's a non-issue.

If your threat is not pressingly immediate, I'd wait. Shouldn't be but maybe a month before the M27 is out and tested, and we are predicting it will be a good performer. Of course, we've been wrong before. If you're in a hurry, the M25 J17 is indeed a good performer, and would do you just fine, so long as it is installed properly.

I'll definitely wait. It will give me time to get used to my first countermeasure.
That's good to hear about customer service issues being a non-issue now. It was a big factor for me to turn away from LI. I'll be on the fence now between the Blinder and the LI. And since my wife isn't looking over my shoulder...I can probably safely say price isn't the issue for me. I'd rather have superior capability, doing it right the first time, than thinking I might have "left something on the table."
It sounds like the LI Quad (with the slim sensors in rear) may be my best LI bet. Now I just have to see what Blinder brings to the table in the upcoming months.
I chose the 9500ix based on its "friendliness" for new users. If Blinder is easier to update (rumors of USB interface) then I might go that route. It will be a tough call.

Myself and RacerX tested The Breeze's LI installed on his Challenger and the performance was outstanding.

The company has a new Rep (Cliff) in the US who has taken the product and service to levels beyond imaginable to mankind.
I URGE you to call LI and talk to Cliff. The product was tested by GOL, by myself, Montu and others in test environment as well as in real life conditions and has proven itself over and over.
You'll not be disappointed.
