NOOOO... It's broken

Ok my V1 has cr*pped the bed yet again... well somewhat.

The key is it still 'works', but the knob to turn on the unit and change the volume doesnt shut off. Meaning I can go all the way counter-clockwise and there is no click to where it shuts the unit off... its simply not there.

Now this ticks me off because I was always really easy on that POS design feature (anyone who has one understands it feels akward and cheap).

Last night I turned off the V1 and took it out of the car... I felt the click and it turned off (just like it should), this morning I popped her in, and the damn thing turned on... when it was completely in the 'off' position of the volume knob, and there is no longer a 'click' to turn the unit on.

But it still works [volume control] (well it works to my V1's somewhat shabby ability), so I certainly am not sending it back to VR after hearing the horror stories that have been coming out of that place... My V1 is sporadic on X&K and marginal on Ka, but many darn units coming out of there these days are simply terrible.

I will hopefully take pictures tommarow so you guys can see a V1 in the 'OFF' position turned on.

send it in and ask them to fix it, and maybe get them to upgrade it

The broken knob is a fluke. How many times has it happened. Less than the "Service Required" on Belscorts by comparison. The broken knob is probably less common than broken speakers on Belscorts too.

I'm not intending to bash BEL, I own one of those two.

Now the staton's V1 Ka issues, that's a m ore serious issue and something V1 needs to sort out soon!

They will repair a unit without updating the firmware if you tell them in a letter.
Hey Airmoore, I thought that you liked the X50 so much better especially for the useful scanning dot feature but you never seem to use that one but instead use the V1 day in and day out. What's up with that?

Dont worry man youll probley get like Version 3.858...it will detect Y band radar and stuff man....you can just consider it a limited editon V! hahaha :shock:

ghz1, I don't really expect anyone to do to much about it.... except I was thinking maybe this has happened to someone else, and they had a quick-fix that VR tells them about... and also just to let people know it happened... I mean thats like people posting the Service-Req problem... nothing can be done about it apparently (except send it in)... but people still post that it happened to them.


VR does excellent repairs? Um well in my case V1Dave, I have had my internals completely replaced (or so they say)... They 'fixed' my Ka issue, by messing up my X&K... so thanks for that heads up. Also I was assuming they wouldn't upgrade my V1 without me knowing (as they are charging 75 big ones), but if they are using a different parts supplier (which they may be here causing the massive rev issues) who knows what I would get back.

You also must not read many of my posts, I use the X50 on the bike more often... since the Blue display is TOP-Notch on there... and I thought the V1 would (should) have been a great detector for the car... plus I drive back and forth from college all the time, so I always keep switching what detector I use, sometimes I use the V1 for 2trips the X50 for 2, or the V1 for all, or the X50 for all. So what is up with that... that a problem that I use my detector... I didn't buy the V1 to look at?

Thank you for the snide remark.... but I do have a limited edition V1... because I found out how to turn it off! If I turn it all the way down (Counter clockwise) to where the V1 is at full-volume basically... it will turn it off!

No brob, just seems like you are one of several that constantly have something negative to say about the V1, your right I don't spend much time on many other threads because lack of time and interest so do you say anything negative about your X50?

My V1 and my X-50 are fine i use V1 on the highway and x50 around town...v1 picks up to much $hit around the city...
Dunno y V1 is coming out with new revs that are Fuucken up and there no better on performance
ive owned a V1 sence 96
If i bashem all the time i wouldnt own a V1

I ran an X50 for two months myself (return policy) and found that by using the K band automuting you can keep a V1 quieter than an X50 because every time you pick up a K band signal on a X50 you have to wait a few seconds for the automute to kick in.
V1 will not alert until your chosen thresholds are broken.
You however cannot do this as you have the K band glitch, however you said in a recent thread that you mute rear? How is that?

Yeah i know about the glitch....rear mute works all the time...but the 30 sec mute does not...or the 4 or 6 leds.

1st off- Most of the time its not negative V1, its just not pro-v1 hooliganism... certainly I have said some V1 negative stuff... when it breaks. I mean the scratch on the V1 that was completely VR's fault (internal scratch they replaced), I dont think I should have much good to say about that?

Trust me I would love nothing more then my V1 to work flawlessly like the Zombies seem to report (not calling you one, normally your exremely level-headed)... but mine doesnt... its not my fault, why people get mad at me for posting my V1's problems & issues is beyond me, its like blaming the victom in a violent crime... it makes no sense. I mean many V1 Zombies and others get all worked up and mad at me when I post my issues... again, whats so wrong about posting the issues I am having with a product?

As for the X50, haven't had any real problems with it yet... knock on wood, other then in the car its not really loud enough over some music... so why complain about it? If it has a self-cal I will certainly post that, and if it pulls the Service Req... I will flip, trust me... you will see me light up the Escort pages.

No, it is nice to know all the problems. Because may be it is not just me having it. Or it could be something to look for and you know how to fix it because someone else already had the problem. Why reinvent the wheel!

Your ok airmoore. You just seem to have a lot of V1 problems. It's kinda looks like a bit of a fix up to the "Zombie". Also maybe if you stop calling us pro V1 lovers "zombies" (which is name calling and not very nice) in turn im sure they/me will stop crashing your threads, as you do post some good stuff and after all we are all here to learn shear and help each other not fight like husband and wife :roll:
