So the E message is because the unit is getting over heated? How hot was it in Chicago when you got your E.
I have left my 3.851 up in the sun(before it got cold up here :evil: ), and I have never seen an E. Once it got so hot I could barly hold it, it was seriously burning me. But as soon as I plugged it in it worked like it alwaise had.

If you've only had it 3 weeks - why not Return it. You get 30 day test drive. Just send it back and tell them you want your money back.

i havent taken my v1 out of my car since i got it
its mounted very high now and you cant see it from outside and its in the lumina so i am not worried about thieves
no e message yet... and i live in texas.

It wasn't hot in Chicago because almost all the time its happened at night. I don't want to return it because on ebay I can get for it like $350.

You shouldn't have paid anything for the ugprade as you never had 3.826 and the ugprades within the 3.85x's have been free.
If you don't like it - send it back - but I had 1 E. I'm just thinking that it might not be the v1 itself - possibly your car? A Power Cord? You reving your engine?
I am just throwing out other possibilities.
Send it in and request them to call you when done with diagnostics and ask them if they DID fix it and knew what was wrong with it - ask them what actually caused the E and go from there. If they aren't sure than the choice is yours to ask them to keep it and refund your money.
I wonder what the V1 will have as its next revision?????/ 3.8?? lol why cant they just get the darn thing fixed??? my 3.852 i had was almost flawless :D
The "E" message didn't occur from overheating because when I got it first time the V1 was totaly cold. I think (like somebody said already) the "E" message occurs because something is wrong with the car.But why other radars detectors works fine in my car???
i couldnt agree with you more, bauzer71487. then again, i've had my V1 for 3 weeks now (3.854) and not a single problem. no E, 1 J...but yes, i did notice that Ka was a little late. its something i can deal with because i have the STI right along side of it. i will upgrade if they go to a new version but not an insignificant update.
3.852 here stays in my car and never leaves. Gets to hang out with the sun allll day in 100+ degree heat and no E yet. Although, it is getting very tan. I'm jealous.
I also thought the 3.8.5.6 just came out, three weeks ago would have been a different verison.

the unti does an internal self-test to check for proper operating parameters, if it fails one or more, it displays an "E".
send it back for warranty work, that is why they have warranties!!

Well for KA definately yes. It eats it alive. For K band it has great filtering for the city. I did some testing with the Bel Pro RX65 (version 6.1)vs the V1 (version 3.854) here is the link http://www.radardetector.net/VIDEO%3...%29-16189t.php take a look for yourself. It is against a K band Your Speed Is sign and you will be the judge. But for KA yeah it is great! Let me know what you think!
