V1 here we go again.
Well after a long time of deliberation, i sold my x50 rev 6.1 on ebay in search of a ka-band RD. Ive had 2 other v1's in my driving career and for the most part had a great time with them, except for when my 3.851 j-ed out a real LEO running 34.7 ka-band. Well i recently recieved a instant on ka-band ticket while my x50 was on and got no alert. I know ka-band is deadly but even the slightest k-band range increase is greatly apprietiated. So back to the v1. Look out ppl, hookem202 is coming back over to the dark side. Do yall think i made a wise decision.

if it was me id go sti which im thinking about doing.....better filtering that the v1 and great ka det.
-
Hookem,
GOOD decision! Go with the V1. I've had no issues w/3.858. VR will also stand behind it.
-
One can never go wrong with the V1 BUT if I was in YOUR shoes I would have at least given the STI a try before I went back to a V1.
-
I'd go with the V1. I'm happy with my 3.858. It J-ed out a trooper once, but I assume that it's unusual circumstances which cause this, as it has only done it once out of dozens of Ka encounters.
Also, in my testing, V1 (3.85x versions) are VERY fast in responding to instant-on Ka. Much faster than the X50. I can't speak for the Bels since I don't have one, but they are probably similar.
-
should have stuck with the x50

The V1 is a great detector, but so it the X50, RX65 and the STi. If your X50 didn't alert to the Ka hit, something must be wrong with it. A close IO blast of Ka should have made it scream.
If you're switching because of an IO hit....well, nothing will protect you from it so you'll just be disappointed again.
IO sux...and LEO's that really know how to use their radar will defeat us every time.
-
I went from an X50 to a V1 and the V1 has not let me down since.... although i still use the X50 from time to time.... there is just something about those arrows
-
Arrows and the ability to upgrade continue to make me happy.
-
I'm happy with my new V1.... :D
-
V1 all the way, I'm never switching brands! 8)

Asking to buy a V1 or not... in the V1 section of the forum...
Enough said... you already know what awnser you want to hear.

Well looking at the list of RD's in your sig I'd say you're way better equipped to make the call than me but I agree with Happyass. It's never a bad decision to go with the V1 because it's a great detector. I'm sure the J bug is a minor irritant at most and no detector is completely without "issues".
-
well........... hmmmmmmm, I would have dipped my feet into the 30 day period of either the RX-65 or the STI before going back to the V1, but really theres nothing wrong with a V1, so long as it was right by you, its all good
-
thanks guys, after doing research and watching a few IO videos with Jimbonzzz. The v1 def kicked as in alerting the first. Although not a big diference in detection time, it still is better. As for me getting nailed with IO, i know no RD will save me without a rabbit. it cost me a $200 lesson. Thanks for the reassurance. :)

I left my 8500 of some 10 years for the V1 and never looked back. I sold the 8500 to a friend and he likes it.
