What radar bands are being used in "your" area?

I've hunted all around the board. Great insight however, I couldn't find what I was looking for. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website or other medium with the listings of the radar bands being used in the city/county/state that one lives in. I live in the state of New Jersey and I'm constantly zapped by radar guns but, I haven't kept track of what bands I'm being hit with, at the different locations. I know I've been hit with X-Band plenty of times (by NJ Troopers) and, very rarely with Laser (by NJ Troopers - North East area) however I haven't kept track of "what" areas. Of course, I have been struck by other bands but, I'm trying to figure out if there is any band that is "not" used like in other luckier states.

In Springboro/Warren County/Ohio I have been hit with X band, K band, in the city, and on the highway Laser, and Ka. I swear they got it all... Havn't been hit by POP yet, but I'm sure its only a matter of time

How do you know that you have not been hit with a POP blast as of yet because I have heard that if you turn on POP with your unit you get a false POP full alert every few minutes? Is that true?

I never get false pops every few minutes, but yea I do get falses every once in a while, maybe 4 times since I've had it. & yes, you have to turn on pop when you get it, and I turned pop on

New Jersey and Ohio are the only two states still buying X band radar. X band is still in use in several other states too, so I wouldn't turn it off on your detector just yet.

Came across some X band this summer too at Mount Rushmore National Park. Guess some of the Park Police still have some older guns

I really dont get it. Why are the cops not using X anymore? I would think if you live in a big city, they would want to use X so radar detectors arent as responsive... What advantages are there from switching from X?

The premise was that in the beginning there were so many X-band RDs picking up police that they wanted technology to put them ahead of us. So when K/KA came along they went with it. To most LE Offices, X-band was old and out-dated so they began phasing them out. $$$ was another factor. The same way things flowed with LIDAR. Thought was it would make RADAR obsolete, but weather and other factors showed LIDAR could be flawed. Remember, all this RADAR/LIDAR/SPECTRE technology came from military applications and downgraded to smaller compact units for civilian LE.

So why would they be getting rid of their detectors?

If you are asking why are they getting rid of their X-band radar guns, it's simple...#1 - $$$$, #2 - modernization. Some states are slow to change, like NJ, and others buy what they can afford. I'm sure the PDs are getting some type of credit back from Radar gun makers for turning in old X-bands and they (makers) are modding/upgrading with new technology.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but my understanding is partly because Its also a spread factor. X is the widest spread every one knows when you turn your gun on. Probably never get a same lane target, wants to lock on to large targets like trucks. K is more narrow, Ka is a super narrow spread, was the hardest to pick up at one time. Don't know about Ku probably even more so.

Actually Ku is at a frequency between X and K at 13.5 GHz (X is 10.5) so I would think the spread will be closer to X.

In Ohio I have been hit with EVERYTHING known to man (K,Ka,X,Lidar,VASCAR) but not POP.

Over here the police uses only X-band....but in the last two months some local company started upgrading these radar guns to make them more instan-on friendly...and they also put a mamory card to them so the cop cant take bribes...but that only worsened the case, cause I have seen them pulling one car over with real speed and giving him a ticket then pulling two cars over with the reading from the first car that was finned...and taking people's money.

Couple of times I was able to get away with the "fine"....by telling them...look I have a RD and if you did fire at my I would know at least...but my detector stayd completlly quite....they see look...we have these latest technology radar guns X-band :lol: and we work them on instant-on your RD never will detect it...I say Ok start you radar and listen here...they usually laugh until they here my V1 scremaing at them...

At least that is the case only in big cities here and for now....until another year.

Good thing here is that all drives flash at you if they see a cop....so that many times there is no real use of RD.

Missouri uses K and Ka and of course laser...

I haven't seen X band used in St Louis in a while.. most local municipalities use K.

In DC/VA, I have received K/Ka for sure. In Fayetteville, NC the FayPD use X and NCHP use everything.

About 3 miles from me is the telecom corridor as they call it. Here is where most radar companies are. At least from what I have heard and seen. I recently photograped a van that was testing new radar units. I asked him if I could take some photos of his van and he refused but after he fell asleep I took these photos.

He works for a company that test new radars I cant rember the name but have it written down somewhere. This radar is the Dual Stalker I think. Here is a link to the pics.
