V1 not working?

V1 not working?

First time post. I just purchased a V1 locally used off of a car forum. I was told it was 1.7 but when I punched in serial on the site it said it was 1.8

Anyways, it powers on and beeps on start up. Thing is that it has not once made any signal that I saw or heard. I normally pick up alot of stray signals in any area and plenty of automatic door stuff with my 6 or 7 year old no name detector. I aimed the V1 at an automatic door and still didnt pick anything up. In a 25 minute highway drive I got nothin. I tried cycling it through big L, little L, and A

Does it sound like somethin is messed up? I will try it again tomorrow. Hate to have to send it off.

It's out of tune most likely send it in to valentine for update and retune

x2, Also just do a quick check to make sure all bands are 'on', might as well check that before sending it off to VR, however, I think CVR is correct.

Strikes me as odd with all the talk of V1 being extra sensitive and falsing alot and I cant pick anything up.

Is there any good advice on getting it sent in? Def gonna use insurance and confirmation. Whats the best way to make payment?

x5 I say send in to v1 they will hook u up and fix it for you man they fixed my unit and now it works flawlessly..! I am very happy with my unit now after i have it back from v1 :D lets just say it works really nice guys :D hehe :twisted:

check the settings first - somebody might have turned off the bands or something. then send it in.

I did more testing today. I found one post where people said some remotes would set them off. I used my pioneer cd player remote in the car to test. I was able to set off front and rear laser alerts with the remote. At ONE light it set off on laser I believe. NEVER picked anything else up. I entered the programming mode and every option had the up arrow.

Then you should be good to go assuming as it has been suggested that it isnt out of tune.

It sounds out of tune. Laser is different from radar so if radar is our of tune then laser will still alert. So the remote test didn't prove anything. I don't know VR's policy on sending in detectors but it sounds like thats what needs to be done.

I was going to try and send it off today but did not have time after getting my taxes done before class. I will try and get it out tomorrow.

Well my V1 came back today. I sent it in last week sometime and then called them on monday morning and authorized them to upgrade/repair it. Not a bad turn around time at all especially since about 2-3 days of that was in shipping. Hopefully all is working well and I will report my results shortly.

Well it showed up as a 1.8 pre pop model on the website. Unsure of the exact number. The problem was I bought it locally and it picked up absolutely nothing even on A. NOTHING

I sent in saying it wasnt picking up and that I might want to upgrade. They didnt give me any feedback on the malfunctioning. I got it back from the upgrade and it works great. I went on a highway trip this evening and it was pickin up all kinds of stuff. I got plenty of X from stoplights and doors and what not. Got some K and Ka from some cop cars I saw on other side with someone pulled over. I got J twice. I even got a short laser burst at one point with nothing sighted. Anyways I'm happy with it. I really like the arrows letting me know as I'm passing the sources and seeing them to the rear. I left it on A the whole time so obviously I was picking up alot of falses(I dont consider them falses as its picking up everything which is what I asked it to do).

don't run it in A mode and you'll cut down the falses without losing any sensitivity.
