I hate it when I have a passenger and my V1 goes off like crazy at door opener infested areas or it doesn't go off at all with a LEO visibly sitting in the median with I/O or just monitoring traffic.

I'm the same way. I usually have to explain why the supermarket is setting it off. Then when the LEO goes by they ask why it's not working and I have to tell then that his radar isn't on.
I personally just hate running my RD with a passenger in the car.... it takes like 2 hours to get past:
(1) Hey why didn't it go off? there's a cop.
(2) Why's it going off in this parking lot?
(3) You know radar detectors don't work
(4) Cops aren't gonna give you a break if they catch you with a detector. (Mind you, I'm a teen driving a V8 powered vehicle)
(5) Speeding kills, you know? You really shouldn't do it.
(6) You know, radar can't get you if you're following someone else that's speeding...
When I get people like this who think they know everything, I tell them they have two options:Quote:

So far the few people it's happened with have all chosen the former option.
What do you drive Sir Dong?
I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L V8 with Quadra-Drive.... it's primarily our winter-mobile but I typically use it all year round for its consistent power and handling characteristics....Quote:

Me and the LEO pull up side by side at a traffic light so I decide to check out his radar equipment while he peeks over into my car and notices my RD. I pull ahead keeping it at PSL as the light turns green, LEO comes into my lane behind me and shoots IO K-band 6 times, so then I'm busy explaining the concept of instant-on to everyone in the car. Few blocks later, me and the LEO pull up side by side again at the stop light. We just smile at each other as he turns off.Quote:

Radar Detector passenger etiquette:
Don’t ask stupid questions like below, and when possible point out cops.
Q-Hey why didn't it go off? There’s a cop?
A-Its a Radar detector not a Cop detector.
Q-Why's it going off in this parking lot?
A-Automatic doors in shopping centers use radar to automatically open the doors.
Q-Do radar detectors really work?
A-Yes, most of the time if the cop leaves his radar on. Sometimes they will wait till they see you than turn it on and no RD will save you from that.
I'm copy/pasting this and printing one to keep in the glove box. You're brilliant!Quote:

The worst is the passenger that you tell to alert you of cops so you can watch the road. At 5 missed leos :x i gave up
Yeah, this isn't a free ride where you can take a nap. You have work to do to. :lol:Quote:

4) You paid $450 for that?!!? A speeding ticket is cheaper!
Losing your driver's license due to speeding is even cheaper. You no longer have to buy expensive gas and you'll even get a good workout when you go out. :DQuote:

stupid cobra users
^All those are funny. :D
I had 2 passengers with me and they think RD don't work so when we drove back from the destination, it started Ramping-up every dot perfectly when the Cop was running C/O (Hiding). They were like "Wow" and they kept looking at the Cop back there and they said "I'm getting one too, how much do they cost?"
I had to answer so many questions after that biggest save of my RD Career at least it was at night on Interstate. :D
They still don't believe me that RD are legal. I asked her if she wanted to try it but she said no because she afraid of getting Ticket for using RD. Seriously, why do they think RD are illegial? if they say they don't work then do they say "They are Illegal"? It doesn't make any sense. :x
I personaly love it when the passanger leans over and turns the volume down because it's "annoying" them. Too bad!
You let someone else touch your V1?!!? I never let anyone touch it. That'd be grounds for instant "looks like you're walking the rest of the way". :lol:Quote:

Well if he helped with the install and is good with RDs/sensitive electronics that isn't so bad. But if it's the girl you picked up at the party that's a no no. :lol:Quote:

Of course, those who ask stupid radar questions are probably arrested at a lower level of moral development, on Kohlberg's continuum, where they believe the law is the law is the law, and there is no higher principle than that.
But, I begin to rant. I 'll stop.
I'm suprised the ban hasnt happened yet in California. Weve got some real smart LEOs around here because of all the crazy drivers, they find some sweet hiding spots.
I don't knoiw if this statement have anything to do with this Topic but I'm surprise they haven't banned it yet but they already have smart LEOs there anyway so it won't matter.Quote:

So when I explain that I drive by there every day she says "so what's to keep a cop from hiding there?" I about fell out the door of a moving car....
Hahahaha. Thats good $hit, gotta give the women a break though. They often have a hard time understanding concepts other than shopping and makeup.
Wish I had arrows, but one good thing about the 9500i is that passengers never notice it until it goes off for a real threat (assuming I'm in familiar territory with my falses locked out). Heck, even my wife is impressed.Quote:
