Are you bringing your GF?
...
I'm in
Wont be able to make it guys i will be in school
confirmed
I'll take some pics of the area in Stow, MA I was talking about in the last thread, I think it might work, and could be a better drive for most (correct me if I am wrong?). It'll be a couple days, I'm heading to NY first thing in the morning, be back late Wednesday.
I can get there, but will most likely be late. The closer to 495 the less late I'll be.
Also, if it is closer I may be able to bring 2 LI equipped cars.
...
I would be delighted to participate
2005 Maserati Coupe
Bel STI driver
4 head PASS system
Would be happy to contribute $50 and use of my video camera
Live in Natick, MA
Please let me know the details as they develop
I think I speak for everyone here when I say we would be delighted to have your Maserati (and you, someones gotta drive it here) at the test.
No but seriously, first dibs on a test drive? You should probably operate the camera so it does not break, wouldn't want a stranger responsible for such a nice piece of equipment (the camera).
Might as well post it here so everyone can see

pics to come on Thursday (maybe Wednesday night if I get back early enough but I doubt it)
Dougies-Thanks for the generous offer-15 miles from my house-I am there! Hoping my PASS will have good results-also plan on G4 Veil before the event.....thanks for the invite!
....
Now that I am living in MA I might be able to attend this event. if you could PM me the location I'll see how long it will take me to get there and if it is worth the drive:)
If Rob shows up, you'll have a serious sharpshooter to really test your systems, that's for sure.
.....
We could probably run a laptop off of one of those AC/DC inverters. I have one which I can bring.
...
I may be able to dig up a pair of walkie talkies-will check in the garage this weekend and let you know-we could always use cell phones as a backup.
I can bring some walkie talkies and my laptop as well. i'm in for $50 for the rental fee.
There is a very good chance I can come. Dual head LI on a 2006 ford escape limited.
If I can come, I can offer a Lenovo t61 laptop with EVDO internet access (with a good external antenna on my car so great signal) and 5 hour battery life (but can just run off car charger).
I will update thread to let you know for certain later on today. Can also offer my friend who's a kick ass photographer with a ridiculous Canon D40 setup.
Leederek's ride is an e92. Tosi, I thought you were a bimmer man? LOL
....
Well since Tosi's avatar won't be there, I think my (2-door) E92 won't either. What a shame - while y'all were drooling over a Maserati and I could just drool or show her how a gun works.
Anyway, the 30th is the start of Labor Day weekend, so unless the weather report for that day is really lousy, I think I will pass. I wanted to check out my single LI head (which I have yet to install) on the rear as I already tested the two on the front.
The E92 actually is quite a bit different from the E90 all things considered, and it is one hell of a car.
I'm pretty sure that road has very light traffic. It's not nonexistent by any means, but I'd guess less than a car a minute (probably much less in the middle of the day on a weekend). When I go take pics I'll sit for a little while and try to get an esitmate.
I've seen a cop out that way before, not that exact section but farther down where it gets turny. That was at night last week on the way back from golf. The guy tailgated me for a mile and I was not even speeding, I saw him well before I passed him and he didn't even have radar on. But I doubt we would run into him again.
The road is pretty flat through that straight section, there should be a solid 1-2000 foot section where the bumps are not big enough to obscure the license plate or anything. I'll shoot some pics of passing traffic to check.
...
I'll pay a bit, but I'd like to see how many people are attending and the rates before just throwing out a number.
The LPP heads are aligned now and level to the road. Order for the LI quad should go in today and install scheduled for the 25th. Should be all set for the 30th.
....
I think Stow will work. I drove by today and took some pictures.
It was noon on Saturday, traffic was about 2-3 cars a minute. In the morning I bet we would see even less.
There are no houses directly on the road, a couple side streets (not 4 way intersections) and those have houses that are set back pretty far. We would not be sitting in anyone's driveway.
There is a section about 1/3 mile long that is straight and flat enough, between Kingland and N Shore Drive

I know of a couple backup places in the area just in case this one is insufficient.
The Pro III goes out today 8/16 for a week in IL.
Getting it back in time for the test will be the challenge.
I have some ideas, solutions, but MY suggestion is a discussion OFF the public forum for the LOCATION of this event.
-Suf
What is the danger of announcing the location publicly? It is not like we are doing anything illegal, right? And Stow has a population of under 6000, I doubt a cop from Stow would get wind of this and bother trying to stop it.
UPDATE:
Went to one of my backup locations that I have not been to in awhile. Turns out it is better than Stow. A little bit more traffic (still not very much) but the road is perfectly straight, much wider, there is a great spot at the end of a perpendicular road to park and set up the guns. Marlborough MA.
I took some cell phone pics but cannot get them off the phone (crappy Motorola W385, has bluetooth but won't connect properly to my computer).
Gmap pedometer says it is 1742ft.
What do you think, good enough to be the spot?

the road on the right goes into a trailer park (cannot see from street), the buildings under the road are apartments, but they cannot see the intersection to the right center of the picture where we would be set up.
I can't make it on Labor Day weekend unless it is going to be very lousy weather. But if you are interested in potential location on the South Shore, I did find some OK ones and one great one. I am not sure of suf Daddy's concern about public posting, so I won't mention them except to say they are in Braintree and South Weymoouth/Hingham.
I will be there unless something comes up, but it will be just me in a Chevy Cobalt SS/SC with dual head LPP's. Friend won't be able to come on the 30th.
good luck with the test guys!
Never disclose testing locations to the general public. Also, it seems that there is a US army training area that spands the entire north side of Sudbury rd. I'm no genius but I think you definitely want a different spot.

....
only a 1.5 hours away from me? Hmmmmm? I'll see how my workload is but I might make the trip to you guys to help out where I can. I don't really have the need to test my LI's unless its against the ProLaser III.
I got no problems shotting all the cars, or taking notes....Though my coming to the test varies on the amount of work I have law school is intense so far
