Fritter-Tuesday

For those that tried to make it out on Tuesday I apologize. My rule is that when too many things start going wrong then I pull the plug.

Besides I couldn't secure a laser and the radar that I was using was not effective or fair. I could not determine the violator, had there been one, without guessing. And if I'm not 100% sure then I'm not going to cite.

That being said the average speed was 54 and the fastest that I could capture was 61. This was on Ed Bluestein where the speed limit is 55.

So I went and had a cheese burger and went home.

Hey Bro... now I don't feel so bad about not making it. Heck, I could have loaned you a lidar or better radar, lol. But I'm still stuck in Floridia buying the new car. You're going to like it! :D

There are some violations that we don't nessesarily cite for but we can use for stops to investigate something else.

Let's say that I am patrolling a drug area and I spy a car that I haven't seen before. I run the plate and the address is from another part of the city. I make the block and notice that there is no front plate.

I now have a legal stop on the vehicle. From there, depending on how the stop progresses I start to find ways that I can get into the car by PC or permission. I cannot tell you how many drunks, drugs, guns and warrants I have found from a stop similar to that.

Another one is "failure to signal intent from the curb" when folks pull away from the curb after buying crack or picking up a prostitute.

It is safe to say that the transportation code is packed with violations. I could follow someone, anyone, for 5 minutes and get a violation.

That is why we have descretion.

Virtually all of my law-enforcement friends say, to a man, how many bigger fish they've caught, thanks to these simple traffic stops.

I have a lot of late night press checks in my business so it's not unusual for me to be driving around at 2-3 a.m. I've been pulled over many times for no-front-plate which was obviously a "drunk" check.

same here i got one of those 2 weeks ago on hwy 71.
it was around 1:30am heading to galveston. i was speeding a little somewhere around 5-7 over the PSL and he stopped me and gave me a test but i dont drink.
i though he was going to give me a warning and tell me to keep it down to the speed limit but he saw my v1 and i think thats the reason i got the ticket.

fritter if someone that you pulled over has a radar do you give him a ticket or do you give him a warning?

:eek: you got tested? by DPS or Galveston County? I've been stopped by DPS once and Galveston County two times on a drunk check but they never tested. Just asked were I was coming from and where I was going then let me go. Frankly it was a little draconian for Texas cops but at 2:30 a.m. I'll give them a pass. You should see some of the stuff I've seen at 3 a.m. on the roads.

Like a fist fight in the middle of the freeway. wish I had been running video for that one. I've actually seen two of these. Cars parked on the side of the road and the drivers are wailing at each other in lane 1.

yea he gave me the 'follow the tip of the pen with your eyes only" test....it was DPS but I should of also mentioned that he said the car smelled like alcohol one of my roomates who was sitting in the back seat had drank 2 beers before we headed out.

i really dont remember smelling like alcohol i guess he just got suspicious since he saw 3 guys at 1:30 am.

LOL! It's embarrassing to get stopped for a DUI test when you don't even drink! I been there before. It's embarrassing because you know your driving had to be particularly crappy while sober to get you stopped! I got tagged for DUI once when I was just falling asleep at the wheel. I've pulled over quite a few like that too. Amazing how you can be almost 100 percent sure the guy is drunk, and they turn out to just be tired.

You can also get the test for stopping at flashing yellow lights.

lol yea i was like what the...he said he pulled me over due to speeding and then he told me that he told me to get out since he smelled alcohol in teh car when he asked me if i was drinking and i told him no I dont drink then he said oh so your the designated driver i was like yes sir and still proceeded to give me the test.


my roomate said that he saw my v1 concealed display and was looking for hte radar detector then he found it by the rv mirror.

Yeah, DDs get tested if they're stopped. It's pretty stupid but every DD we've had has mixed in a beer or two unless they were complete non-drinkers.

When I was younger there was no such thing as a DD but we would usually go kind of a rock/paper/scissors thing and the loser could still drink but had to keep relatively sober enough to drive. Of course back then drunk drivers were crashing into schoolbuses every day so that didn't last long.

I was the loser in the rock/paper/scissors game and drove back to our dorm and right into a speedtrap at Elgin. It turned out I had a traffic warrant so the cop took me in custody. Then he gave each of my buddies a roadside test, gave my keys to most sober and kicked them loose.

It's all up to the descretion of the officer that initiated a stop. As I've said before however, if I pull you over for speeding and I see "counter measures" then that is an automatic cite.

And now I know more about what to look for after meeting up with some of you guys, Thanks...:D

Everything in this statement is 100% true. I do not understand why anyone would want to show a LEO, any LEO, friend or foe, how this stuff works. He might be your friend, but he will tell other LEOs what he's seen, guaranteed. All this stuff is contrary to the overall cause.

Someone on this forum was asking me a while back if I would show his buddy, a LEO how my stuff works. I never did, for this very reason. They'll figure it all out eventually and when they do, they do. We'll have to adjust at that point. But all this stuff just speeds up that process.

The whole Fritter meeting annoyed the heck out of me. All you guys out there educating a LEO about our countermeasures is a totally bad idea. I just don't get it. :dontknow:

What have we learned from him that's one important to us and I can't think of anything else besides u can shoot laser out of a mirror. He's a nice guy but he doesn't need to know this. Basically everything dj has said.

What has he learned from us that he didn't already know? When he first came to this forum, before ever meeting any of us, he was describing the jammers he had seen on vehicles. He didn't need us to figure that out. If anything, he has learned that we're not all a bunch of reckless dickeads. I see that as a positive thing.

Hey man I resemble that remark :D. But as I remember when he first came on board he did not think jammers worked either. I'm sure Fritter is a nice guy but I am still wary of showing what I have to the "enemy" so to speak.

Good point. Anyone here could be a LEO and we'd never know it. Fritter was upfront and honest with us from the get-go, and I respect that. I dunno... maybe I'm just less paranoid than others here because I'm not usually driving in a manner that puts me at risk to LEO action.

What have we learned from Fritter? Tactics. Ask anyone who was at the Austin meet-up. Might not sound impressive to anyone else here, but if you were there, trust me, you walked away enlightened, and with information that will help you improve your set-up. On the other hand, the only thing he has learned from us is what he already knew; that people use jammers, and they usually don't work. :lol:

His tactics are of no consequence, only the tactics the LEOs each individual happens up against matter. Tactics vary based upon local "tribal" knowledge. Whatever might have been learned from him has zero to do with the tactics my locals(or anyone else's locals for that matter) use. I know their tactics because I need to.

The fact that you can shoot radar off the side mirror is an interesting fact, but not useful.

He is anything but a valuable asset to this forum. The exact opposite is true, you guys are the valuable asset to him in his endeavors to create revenue for the city of Austin.

Please don't act like he knew what we have before you guys showed him. He had no clue.

I have never been defeated by this device and I have issued numorous citations to folks that employ it.

I even had one knuckle head bring the owners manual to court to prove that I couldn't have "gotten him" because of the laser jammer. (Thus admitting he was speeding....hey, we don't catch the smart ones)

In court, maybe. However, the knowledge of what tactics are out there for LEOs to use is important to those who seek to defeat them. If you know them, you can stay out of court to begin with. You're smart enough to know and understand this. You're just arguing for argument's sake.

Radar Roy brought Elvis -- a cop -- to GOL. I don't see you whining to GOL about that.

Let's see. I help members of this forum just about every day with their problems/questions. I spent about $1500 of my own money to attend GOL 2008 where I:

1. Rented the test car.
2. Drove the test car for hours on end.
3. Helped install most of the jammers.
4. Brought most of the tools used for the install and troubleshooting.
5. Used my corporate discount to save attendees quite a bit of money on their hotel rooms.

I don't approve of anyone educating LEOs about our equipment. What part of that is hypocritical? What do you want me to do? Call Roy, Jim and Steve and yell at them? I didn't do that here. As always, your views are extreme and unreasonable.

Do I have to call out SML also? They used LEOs. I don't know any of them, but I guess I have to hammer them also. Wait a minute, MEM-TEK was part of that! If you are reading this Michael, you suck for being part of a testing event that used LEOs to shoot the guns. Is that good enough?

If you want to continue the distraction of attacking my credibility on this matter, have at it. The point still stands. What you guys did there is counterproductive to this community as a whole, for years to come. Me criticizing or not critcizing everyone else that has done the same thing does not change that.

I surely learned some from Fritter, citing motorist with just one speed reading. :lol: You'll never know what LEO's do until you watch them do it. They can turn things up side down, side to side and still feel good about it. :D That's why lawyers advice as all to never argue with them when being pulled over.

To be fair with Fritter, I cannot make a good assessment since I was not there personally and all my observations are based on videos that was posted in this forum. So I still give him a benefit of a doubt as far as him being certified or not. One thing I can say about this meet or any meet with a LEO is that, without having a good background on how radar and lidar is used according to accepted traffic enforcement practices and training, you will never know if those methods presented by him or any other LEO are legal or accepted practices in law enforcement. Any LEO can make us a fool when we don't know nothing about what he is doing.

All of you are missing the point, even after it's been said a thousand times.

The reason people are pissed about you doing this is not because YOU learned or benifeted from it but that your giving LEO's our tactics and giving them valuable info on how we do what we do. Which eventually will lead to and speed up the process for jammers to get banned.

This is like asking a enemy country which way are you coming through the jungle and them telling you but you telling them that were going to ambush you and telling them exactly where all of your men are going to be positioned during the ambush. We may get a benifit out of it but it doesn't matter where going to lose the battle/war

What you learned with fritter has no benifit to the community or you that we already didn't know or plain and simple actually be useful. I see none of what your saying actually be something that will really help us beat cops at their own game.
