LMAO
GPNY is an awesome track. I'll be there next weekend for the first time!!!! Shooting for mid to low 27's and 30's on the two courses.
No sense in going if I'm not shooting for a record lap. Some guys from a local track here in CT went there the first week of January. These guys drive pretty well and achieved mid 30's - low 31's downtown and low 28's uptown. AFAIK, it was their first time there. Regardless, it should be fun. FYI, the qualified drivers here in CT can run Sodi Rx7 9hp cars at the track that I go to. I'm new to them but am learning slowly. These 6.5 hp GPNY cars should be a bit lighter and hopefully a bit more manageable.
is that alex roy at 6:52?
nice test but i am just not a huge fan of the current smart cars...if they made like a 12 second one then maybe :D
If anyone wants to meet up, I'll be at GPNY this Sunday. Not sure what time I'll be there yet but I'm waiting on a time confirmation from a few buddies.
Update:
GPNY's facility is pretty tight. The videos don't do it justice. Definitely the best indoor Karting facility I've been to but still not as fun as out-door karting. Without being shown the "correct/best" racing line, me and a buddy of mine were able to turn out 28.3-28.7 secs on the uptown course. Way too much traffic to be able to get into a good rhythm and HORRIBLE track marshals made it difficult to learn the track and run quicker. We only ran 5 heats because it was super crowded and the downtown track was closed. Will be back next month for sure, hopefully with a video camera attached to my helmet. If anybody wants to meet up there, shoot me a PM.
PS.
Some dude that looked like Felipe Massa, equipped with his own personal Sparco Ferrari race suit, Simpson racing gloves, Puma race shoes, and UBER expensive Carbon fiber helmet complete with reflective tear-offs, got his @ss pwn3d out there. The only items he forgot were his HANS device and talent!!!
