Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
No wonder swarga has gone missing all this time, he was in the lab cooking this up. Swarga, see if you can make a remote display for the windshield units.

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
Here's the best part: for you extreme RD fans who own both a V1 and a 9500ci, you'll be able to put the displays from both onto your HUD at the same time.
Now how much would you pay? :D:D:D

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
I assume signal strength is only via audio then? or is it just cuz it was in spec?

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
Oh that is sweet. If I do go with a C6 the HUD will be mandatory now!

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
Congratulations! One of the cleanest professional installs I've seen to date (and I've seen a ton). I'm working on a aftermarket HUD like yours that will work in most any car. Why more cars don't have HUD as an option is beyond me :(
Great job!

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
I just want to say I called this months ago. When Swarga went missing on the forum after getting his 9500ci I knew he must be working on integrating the ci into the C6 HUD. Nice job, I just can't begin to explain how amazed I am at this accomplishment.

I've always said that the best installs don't look like installs at all, they look completely stealth and factory. This is a perfect example of that :)

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
Swarga, is it only the HUD? or can put it in in the dash instead?

HUD only at this time.

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
Awesome...... Any chance of intergrating that into a modern day Porsche instrument cluster?

Thanks :D

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
I will gladly consider porting this technology to other vehicles. I will, of course, need samples of the vehicles in question to use for development purposes. :D

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
I don't necessarily want HUD, but I would love to integrate my 9500ci with my car's information display in the instrument cluster. Who are the board experts on CAN integration?

Hi Gator Bite. There are several CAN interfaces available, depending on car manufacture and radio option of course. Might be better to start a separate thread on this new topic :)

Can you provide a link to one of these CAN interfaces for the 9500ci?

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
So how much would this cost? I have HUD in my C6 and planning on getting a V1 to compliment my SRX...

Not sure how I missed this earlier, but damn! I like it!!!
Think you could do it for an E64 M6? :D

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
swarga,
Damn I am impressed.
Whistler1 :D:D

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
I'm also impressed swarga. I have a HUD in my caddy, and I'm sure it would work in my car also. I just bought a V1 yesterday. If it's not to involved I may be able to do it. Email me if you want. Thanks.

Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
According to Swarga it was not cheap or easy!
-
Re: It's Not Just for Valentines Anymore
It's taken me almost a year of (part-time) work plus at least $1000 in parts, tools, and other costs to get this far. To me that's neither easy nor cheap. :D
Here's an outline of what I did: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...tml#post508640
As for getting it to work with the Cadillac HUD, I wouldn't be so sure. GM has a nasty habit of using completely different electronics in different models of cars, and sometimes even in the same model of car. For example, the 2009 Corvette uses a completely different OnStar module than the 2008s did, and mounted it in a completely different location. Unless the HUD in your Cadillac is exactly the same as the one in the C6 Corvette, then it's going to take a significant amount of effort to make the HUD-One work with it.
