Just curious
I don't remember seeing any video of the 9500ci vs Spectre III/IV, but it uses the exact same radar antenna(M3) is the other two RDs, so there will be no difference. I do know it has been tested and was not detected by Spectre though.
Re: 9500ci vs Spectre IV+
we tested it against the spectre 2 and it was undetectable.
Re: 9500ci vs Spectre IV+
The 9500ci has the same M3 antenna as the STi and STi-R. All are completely undetectable by any version of the Spectre. The 9500ci and STi were tested against a Spectre IV last year at SML 2008 and, of course, were not detected at any range.
Re: 9500ci vs Spectre IV+
I don't know too much about Spectre, but why are they upgrading Spectre if it can't detect these radar detectors anyways? Shouldn't they be working on something else that may have a higher chance of detecting these radar detectors?

Remember, the vast majority of RDs sold are Cobras. They are easily detected by Spectre. If updating the Spectre makes these RDs more easily or more reliably detectable, then the update is useful. The STi, STi-R and the 9500ci are the only RDs not detectable by Spectre. These three RDs make up an extremely small market share. Everything else is detectable at varying distances.

Cobra's are easily detected by any other brand of radar detector. I don't need a spectre to pick up a cobra.
But you make a good point DJ. They are looking for the easy kill (Cobra RD user) rather than a more experienced driver with a platinum grade detector installed. I don't know why I really care because I live in Florida and I'm allowed to posses and use one.

Also remember that is illegal for truckers to use RDs. So, troopers might have the Spectre to specifically to target truckers, but there is nothing that stops them from using the Spectre to target RD users in normal cars.

But why would they want to target RD's in normal car's where RD's aren't illegal?

Because, legal or not, LEOs hate RDs.
