Veil g4 headlight questions!!!!!!
Well I received my veil g4 today and now I am just waiting for my new headlights to arrive.
My question is would the coating of the inside of the headlight have the same effect? And would a clear coat over a veil install help to protect it or would it just counter the veil?
Re: Veil g4 headlight questions!!!!!!
Veil on the inside would be foolish. The minimal protection that it would afford you (from the actual bulb light refractors) is not worth the safety cost of dismanteling the water-tight (fog-tight) seal that the headlight has. There are some that say clear-coating the veil renders its effects null and void and some that say a clear coat has no effect. Browse this forum a bit for their exact words.

Personally, I think Veil withstands harsh and adverse weather quite well without any noticeable affects in appearance. So, I wouldn't worry too much and just paint the outside of your lights and not use clear coat. It works very well applied as directed. I wouldn't change that.
Re: Veil g4 headlight questions!!!!!!
Okay I found the previous thread about the veil on the inside of the headlight. But I only found it by doing a search for it. What is strange is that when I looked in the veil forum it is not listed there. The name of the missing/found thread is "Would Veil on the inside of the HL work good? Will it burst into flames in the oven?". So yall can look into why its not showing up in the view forum.

I seriously doubt this is true. Adding any additional coatings to veil, especially one that is shiny, would decrease its performance. I think somewhere on this site the veil guy actually also recommends to NOT use anything on top of veil. Do you not think they would not like to advertise that it lasts longer? If adding a 'topcoat' helped, they would be telling people to do it, or better yet, providing a seperate second layer themselves to apply on top of veil. Yet they don't do this. Weird

Hey Guys,
We really haven't conducted tests of performance variations of Veil inside or out, but I personally tend to believe that you would be best served by having Veil as that outer interface.
As one gentleman accurately pointed out, we really strived to make Veil pretty resistant to wear effects. We estimated 6 months initially which turned out to be very conservative.
One decent coating of Veil, lasted 6 years on my headlights. The problem was that the product made my vehicle so stealth that the damn deer didn't even see me (and vice-versa).
The key to getting good longevity out of a Veil coating is proper surface preparation as was already pointed out. :)

i have 10 people when i test the car with clear coat on top of veil. only one person from 10 was before when i test without clear coat , and like i said i gain 100-150ft at least .
even if that was because i apply with airbrush not like first time with foam brush, didn`t change the performance. the lens are now kind of opaque which is good to deflect laser.

What kind of car was this on? I'm wondering if the angle of the headlights makes a difference in wear and tear. More angle equals less wind resistance sort of thing...
BTW - 3M has some new products aimed at headlight plastic restoration. I have to talk with my distributor about it but I'm thinking it would be a great way to prep the headlights before appling Veil as there is no residue left behind. I'll be testing this in a few months as soon as the weather here gets a bit warmer and I can perform a more scientific test (one side with 3M prep, one side without).
