Names Blake from Katy Texas Pic**

Hello everyone!
Names Blake and as you can see I am located in Katy Texas.
My first radar detector was a escort passport 8500 x50 blue. Unfortunately it was stolen from me in the school parking lot. :( I loved it so much i decided to purchase another one and I've been using it for the last year or so. I'm glad to be a member and like the other forums I have been on i hope to learn a lot, because one can never have to much knowledge, and contribute it back to newbies as well. My first question is what spectrum do the police usually use? I switched my settings so that it would show the band number i was getting hit with and 90% of the time if it is in the 30ish range its usually a cop and 20ish range is a false alarm. Is this true?? Last a picture of my ride. You can see why i need a RD. :p

Just FYI Katy PD uses Instant-On and Moving-Mode Ka.

Yes, false alarms tend to be outside the normal police range, because they are not, nor do they need to be, made to as tight of tolerances.

Got the plates covered. Didnt realize i had to be so confidential but i can see why. Doesnt matter anyways because just the other day i discovered i got a collapsed lifter so it will be in the garage for a while now. :( Thank you for the warm welcome. And justin could you explain the different radars the Katy PD uses.

I can see how you could misread that. :p

I don't know the exact frequency, but I have seen a Katy officer sit on the median opposite an overpass that goes over I-10 near the mall and zap people with instant-on Ka just as they crest the top of the bridge where the PSL is 30 MPH.

Yeah I've use that bridge almost every day. My radar picks it up sometimes when im on the other side of the bridge and then sometimes when im on the top were he clearly sees me. I never go fast down that bridge because with that tree blocking him in the medium you can never see him.

I have no idea. I don't drive through Katy that much, really.

well.. with all that chrome (bumper , trims , mirrors , headlights...) u may think serious about a good laser jammer , if u get shot that`s an instant ticket. i run my x50 in expert mode because i can see multiple radar band alerts. usually an ka and k is a slow down , and i run city with minimal x alerts.

Well me being a high school student without a job I'm very limited to upgrades on the nova. Luckily i picked it up in great condition so no body work needed. Replaced the rear leaf springs, new drive shaft u-joints, new edelbrock intake manifold, new edelbrock 750 cfm intake manifold, new hooker headers that go into a full three inch exhaust system with dual flow master 40's, new bushings all the way around, and a new camshaft from crane cams. I'm dead out of cash and engine is having problems so its parked for now. :(
