Hello,
A month ago, I got my first time ticket in my life.:eek:
So I bought a detector, passport escort 9500i to prevent from getting ticket anymore.:p
Two days ago, I installed the detector by myself though, a little ugly.:mad:
If someone can share how you installed your detector, that will be great.:)
I think in the US the price of a detector is little more pricey than in Japan...that's only I'm dissatisfied...:(
Welcome to the forum! There is not much way to make a below-the-mirror install much prettier on that car. That's about as good as it gets. But many people here will recommend that you do not install your radar detector there. If you get stopped, it is guaranteed that the police will see it. That guarantees that he will write you a ticket instead of maybe just giving you a warning. Serious fail. It's also likely to get you a second ticket for having an obstructed view. Not to mention how obvious it is to thieves and vulnerable it is to the sunlight and heat. You'd be much better off moving it up higher, behind the tint strip. It's much easier to hide the wire that way too.
What part of Japan? Do you know who Naomi Ayukawa is?

I agree with Stealth Stalker. I'm not a fan of the mirror mounts, for all the reasons he mentioned. To the left of the mirror, as high as possible is where I like to mount my RDs.
Also, your RD will not make you immune to all tickets. You will still be vulnerable to police laser.

It was the first time for me to connect any device with hard wire to a car...cause of that, I couldn't completely hide the wire so it's little ugly.
I will try to change the mounting position as you suggested.
Here in the US, so scared because a lots of police officers on roads, highways and everywhere. In Japan, not so many but cameras so basically if you have a detector which can warn you are heading cameras, you are in the heaven.:p

I will be changin a position tonight hopefully. Actually I do not want to use the windshield mount, the clear staff used for sticking to the front window, shaped like a nipple..sorry I don't know what to call it. So do you have any idea to mount on windshield without nipple staff?

Those are called suction cups. Why don't you want to use them?
I do not want because eventually it will fall...so if there was better way to mount, I would prefer that way:)

After a few years in Texas heat the suction cups may eventually begin to distort enough to lose their ability to stick well. However, as long as you attach them behind the tinted area, they should last a very long time. Just be sure to reach up with your finger and push them down every couple of days to keep them set. A radar detector just isn't heavy enough to really pull them down unless you neglect them for a very long period of time.
Naomi is my cousin. My family lives in Yokohama City. They wish they lived in the countryside! I have never been there, but hope to visit this year.

If you go to Japan, you may want to see Japanese style RVM radar detector.
It looks cool.
When I was in Japan, it was not in the market.
It is kinda cool, but i am not sure about sensibility.
The RVM radar detector with GPS so it warns you if you are closing to a speed camera.
it costs around $300 USD...if it even works in the US, I wanna buy though...need to have a US map, new data, etc. Probably not gonna work here cause types of a radar used in Japan and in the US are different, I guess.
