Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
Hmmm... either I'm not quite understanding what you're describing, or else I haven't experienced it. I keep my Mirror always on City Mute though, so all I get is voice alerts and a very low alert from the V1 itself. I do find the "chirp chirp" at the end of the Cheetah alerts quite annoying though. They are WAY too loud. Much louder than the voice alert.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
Yeah I run my volume control on the v1 itself all the way down for all alerts to go through the mirror. I do not run my cheetah mirror in city mute. So I guess this applies to non city mute.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
I agree 100%. The mute button on he mirror is broken. I recently noticed this as well. If you get hit with a k band from walmart and hit the mute button on the mirror it should stay mute as long as it sees the same K band. But no the mirror seemsto cycle the alarm even after you hit mute. My guess is it loses the signal for a milisec and think the same signal is a new alert. Any Way to fix this. we can't keep hitting mute over and over again.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
Ditto here with my V1. Doesn't bug me so much, but drives my gf up the wall.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
I guess this just isn't a problem for me. If I'm close enough to a WalMart to pick their door openers up, I'm not going fast enough for the Cheetah to alert anyhow.
The Cheetah takes a little playing with to determine the best settings, but once you get it right, it works almost perfectly.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
All I want is a 3 or 5 second delay so if i click the mute button and the signal cuts out then 2 seconds later cuts back in the darned mirror will not go crazy again.
Also I am still awaiting a sti-r interface.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
Try changing the mute setting on your V1 to full mute.
Option 8, https://store.valentine1.com/lab/MikesLabRpt3.asp
That should stop the alerts on the GPSmirror for that alert duration.
Reason being, full mute is full mute, whereas with the V1 default setting, even turning down mute lever it is still audible to the Radar Detector Interface.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
I can do that but I would have to start hitting the mute button on the v1 correct? This would also mute the mirror itself?

Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
Okay, let's get this all sorted out for everyone.
There are 2 separate issues here in this thread, so lets deal with each one.
1. An issue with mute on the v1 itself.
2. An issue with city mute and the mute on the mirror.
Issue 1:
With the V1 set to "default" (option 8) when pressing the mute button on the V1, the sound is controlled by the lever. Even turning it all the way down does NOT fully mute the V1. you can still hear it if you put your ear to it.
The RDI still hears it as well.
To solve the issue of the mirror alerting when pressing mute on the V1, change option 8 on the v1 to the down arrow which makes it full mute, and thus the mirror or C100 will be silent.
This should cure that.
Now issue 2. this one I'm a bit perplexed by.
I've been trying to duplicate the issue and can't. so i need some help here from those with a problem. Jamminx you seem to have the biggest problem, so let's try and figure it out for you and anyone else.
For those with an issue, are any of you using the "audible alert speed" option on the mirror?
it's option 1. it allows full muting automatically for X and k band under a set speed, for example 15 mph.
Laser and ka are exempt from this for the obvious reason that if you are at a stop light you can still get one of those alerts since they are harder to detect.
second, using city mute with the V1 gives me the initial alert, for example k band, but after that it stays quiet regardless of how many k band bogeys show up. so i can't find any issues with it.
Hitting mute does mute it for the full duration, even if multiple k band bogeys appear.
there is already an additional 1-2 second buffer built in for this issue, so i'm guessing, Jamminx, that your V1 must be losing the signal for longer than 2 seconds.
can you try that out next time and let me know. just keep an eye on the V1 after hitting mute on the mirror, so we can make sure things are working as they should for everyone.
thanks.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
can someone revisit this issue? i have an STI with the same problem. if i get a k band hit with only 1 bar, the miror keeps alerting repeatedly over and over again. each time it says the band, it beeps, and then it chirps, to let you know the threat is gone, and then cycles through again and again without pause. it seems like the mirror thinks it is a new hit every beep. quite maddening. if i have 2 bars or more, i don't have this issue. this is with volume on full, no voice alerts, no automute.
Re: Cheetah Mute Is Annoying
I do use the audible alert speed. Mine is set to 40mph. So just as described by the earlier poster as I drive toward walmart (over 40mph);if i get a k band hit; the mirror
"keeps alerting repeatedly over and over again. Each time it says the K band, it beeps, and then it chirps, to let you know the threat is gone, and then cycles through again and again without pause. it seems like the mirror thinks it is a new hit every beep."
The V1 does not lose signal for more than 2 secs thats for sure.
