The Annville police department is using a somewhat new device to enforce the speed limit on township streets. The department’s officers are now using a wireless Electronic Non-Radar Device, or ENRADD, which uses two beams of light to measure a vehicle’s speed.
“The ENRADD is like two laser beams that are going across the road, and it gives you a more accurate time check for your enforcement,” said Annville police Chief Mike Burdge. “The good thing about wireless is we can be up the road, and instead of using chase cars, wave them in and enforce the law.”
Burdge said the department has had the device for about a year and a half. The department has run speed-enforcement details at several locations along Route 934 in the township in the last week and has issued more than 150 citations, he said.
Yesterday, Burdge and other officers were in the parking lot of Christ Church United Church of Christ, just north of the township border at the Quittapahilla Creek. The ENRADD was set up near the creek, and speeders were waved into the church’s parking lot by fire police.
“We’re trying to hit some locations where we get some complaints from people,” Burdge said. “We get a lot of complaints about people coming in ... and we want to start getting the message out that it is a 25-mile-an-hour school zone

involved state police. “We’re trying to be more proactive than reactive,” he said. “We’re trying to get the message out for people to slow down. We’re trying to get the message out that on any given day, we may be out running it.”

I wish there was an ERADD jammer, there was a thread about it, but it does not appear to be feasible.

Can you see the sensors on the side of the road, or are they pretty small or hidden.

You can see it, but it is only 5 ft appart. It is common to place the unit behind a "brokedown" vehicle so you will not see it. If you see a car battery or the like, slow down.

Not sure how common ENRADD is outside of PA.

yeah you just have to be to be alert at all times, I been lucky enough to spot them on the side of the road. The interesting part is, I usually spot the one on the opposite side of the road first before I see the on on my side of the road, even though they may block it by a car just look across the road from the car and you will see the other unit.

The enradd unit has a tripod on each side of the road. So they would have to block both from being seen.

The camp hill police use enradd on the rt15 bypass all the time. I speed through there everyday and allways see the unit far ahead so I can brake to 35mph psl in plenty of time and never got a ticket. I'm sure the annville police are just as lazy and don't even try to hide the enradd units; they just rely on 99% of ppl not knowing what they are.

Annville police often sit right before psl goes from 25 to55. The 25 psl is rediculous. Some of the annville cops are unprofessional jerks too and have almost run into legal problems over harassing college students.

ENRADD Solution: Get up enough speed and get the car airborne right before reaching the ENRADD unit. Sail over and land safely on the other side. :D

Of course, it helps if there's a bump and dip right before the ENRADD unit. ;)

Or if you see it far enough ahead, you could pull off the road right there and "accidentally" run over it. I doubt it would work to well then. :D
