Cobra 9960G vs. Gulf Shores, AL PD.
Went to Foley, AL today and I had some notable encounters with the 9960G that I'm testing.
I was on my way back from the Tanger Outlet with my friends when we encountered 34.7 ka band. About half 3/4 mile up in heavy traffic I see a leo heading my direction.
This encounter was very impressive and this particular encounter was with 33.8 ka band. I had a friend with a Whistler xtr-130 follow me that also got a pretty decent warning. I got an alert for 33.8 ka band. I started to slow down, and I was looking all over the place for this cop, I activated my trip B part of my odometer. I kept going down and was looking all over the place for the leo. At first I thought I missed him. Then I see a cop facing away from me in an Impala with its lights off. Very impressive. My computer showed 1.2 miles of detection. Very impressive. The XTR-130 got a little less than a 1/4 of warning.
Overall, the sensitivity that I have experienced with this detector is very good on 33.8 ka band and 34.7 ka band. I have not had a 35.5 encounter yet. I will keep all of you posted. I will have plenty of both good and bad things to say about this detector come review time. :D
Re: Cobra 9960G vs. Gulf Shores, AL PD.
Looking forward to your review. I did my research before buying the 9960G and its pretty good. For $200.00 brand new I can't complain about it.

Just wondering what "research" you did that lead to a conclusion that a Cobras was the best detector for you? Most of my research has concluded that there are far better detectors out there in that price range (Bel V940, 955 etc.)

He must have seen the GOL testing of this "top of the line" Cobra and thought that there is no way that a device could be that crappy so he bought one.

From what I seen it looks like cobra is starting to improve their products, slowly but surely. Plus the GPS speed cam/trap feature may be more important to him than radar detection.

Well, I'm surprised to see that someone here has a 9960G. I'm glad the detector works well for you Nissan.
I also had a K band encounter in heavy traffic today. About 3/4 of detection.

200 dollars for good sensitivity and for speed and red light cameras can be a compelling package for some people. The 9960G is not as strong of a detector as the big boys by any means, but it will do the job for some people.(If they can stand the very poor filtering.)
Re: Cobra 9960G vs. Gulf Shores, AL PD.
I'm not into bashing anything/anyone but if these cobras leak like the rest of them then they are doo-doo and should be set on fire...
Just pass a cobra user and get a strong false off of the d@mned thing! It's the worst thing in the world to be accelerating around someone with your @ss hanging out in the hammer lane and your RD starts alarming

Some newbies are even hopeless to help.......

lookup: ilivedowntheroad on youtube.
I did 2 passes towards a 34.7 KA band radar speed sign at 45 mph, it did ok I think.

I tested it and the 9960G did not set off my Whistler XTR-695 at all. I will go into this test in more detail in my review.

Well, to much of the detector users on this forum's dismay, he has a right to run whatever counter measure he wants to, including Cobras. Honestly, this Cobra isn't too bad. The review should help clear a lot of this up.
