My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
As many members on here know Escort gave out ~100 units to be tested by members from their forum... to test and give feed-back on a pre-production mount.
Here is mine (I made a video review so people could actually see it working)... showing the good/bad things much more in-depth then words can convey.
I have been using it for a month, and just today I took an hour or so this afternoon to make this for you forum members who might be seeing this mount soon and for Escort to see hopefully:

A "thanks" to Escort, and I hope they like the feedback.

Very comprehensive and thorough review. I have to admit though, being a newbie here and looking at your avatar, the main reason I clicked on the review was to check out the hot chick:dontknow::D:laugh:

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Good vid. I like the old mount though ... its never failed yet.
-
Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
So is the new mount available?
-
Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Great Video !!
I had similar results with my test mount.
I thought it looked better, was well engineered and more soild.
HOWEVER, in my Acura TL the new mount was not usable because I could not bend the bracket enough, and the RD pointed towards the sky.
Not only could I bend the old mount more, but by bending it until the suction cup tops hit the detector, it seemed to cushion and stabilize the unit more.
So, Escort will find that it's more than sport cars that cannot use the new mount.
I've got to give them credit for its sleek design however.

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Awesome tutorial of the mount, right on the money... However and in IMO the suction cups are too feeble, they become flat and wont stick any more within a few weeks. Mine fell off the window 2 times.

X2, Didn’t do well with my 04 TL ether. But because i gave the original one to my GF i made it work with my high mount and bending it as far as possible on my 9500ix.

I want it bad! When do they expect to ship it?

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
NVM, just called CS and requested a test mount. They are shipping it today first-class mail free of charge. LOVING ESCORT!

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Wow, nice review.
I can't imagine how detailed a detector review would be :)

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Good review, I've had my mount about a month I really like it. Holds a lot better I think, and I agree with you it looks classier.

Instead of using 2 small suction cups, I would think that 1 larger one would hold better. Ive had nothing but problems with the 2 dinky ones on multiple cars. I had a radar back in the day (do not remember the model), but used 1 large cup. Never had any issues with it.

The curvature of the windshield and the level mounting necessary requires more than one suction cup. I agree that the suction cups are too dinky i also think the new mount sucks, it doesn’t fix any of the current issues and potentially adds the possibility of more issues.

They need to come out with a mount with a built in bubble leveler...I can never seem to get my RD level on the windshield!!

Thanks for this. Very, very nice review.

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Thanks everyone for the compliments, I am glad it turned out so well after being put together so quick...
We will see what comes of this in the future...

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Mine has failed already. The left suction cup loses contact after a few minutes. I'm thinking the hole isn't being pluged properly with the quick release and the loss of vacuum causes it to release. Too bad, too, because I really liked how easy it was to take off the windshield.

That's a great idea, someone should make one like that and patent it:)
BTW, you can still get these from Escort if anybody still wants to try one.

Mine came off once with the 8500 held on with one cup:eek: Why is so hard to design a mount with big cups that stick?

Re: My ("NEW") Escort Mount Review/Feedback:
Great video! Couple things I had experienced differently... I have no idea how you inserted the new mount in/ out of the RD so easily! My beta mount took a great deal of pressure to insert and remove and is impossible to do while it is on the windshield. This is true for a new 9500ix and recently repaired x50.
The other thing was my suction cups occasionally would come off the mount, My beta mount has slots where the ups can be removed sliding them off diagonally. You can see this if you pull down on the release door. So I don't know if there are different versions or what.

the new mount is slightly thicker than the old ones so if your RD is broken in it fits better sometimes and sometimes not.
My guess is they wont be selling this till its improved, not good enough IMO.
