I been running Sti-R+V1 for last 3 days in city,,,
and I noticed Sti-R is more chatty and more sensity then V1....
Sti-R always 1-2 secs ahead of V1 aginst K band Speed Sign.....
and sometime Sti-R would alerts to supermarket door opener(off axis K band),but V1 is silent....
Im really loving the Sti-R+V1 combo........

I feel the 2 best set ups are ci+V1 and STI-R + V1. The V1 covers Q/T the belscorts will miss, and has the arrows. The CI and STI-R have more raw sensitivity and spec display.. That is a sweet set up if you can afford to run it.
I love the combination of the two! The STi-R has surprised me a few times with rear Ka detection (34.7) before the V1
IMO overall the STI,CI and STi-R eat the V1 for lunch on 34.7 detection coming and going. The only advantage I see for the V1 on 34.7 is Q/T response performance.
Haven't seen QT or I/O used in this area yet. Maybe I'll get some action when I go cross-country in a few months.
I think the V1 beats the sti-r on rear Ka 34.7 detection too. That is what I am seeing with my V1-9500ci combo.Quote:

Thanks for sharing that. In all fairness I have not had much rear experience with any of the detectors in a 4 wheeler since most of my use has been in a Semi truck that blocks the V1 rear detection. All of my rear encounters have had to rely on reflections back to the front of the rd.
I am still waiting for someone to mount a CI in the grill and a STi-r under the rear bumper covering the rear.
Yep, the V1 beats the 9500ci on rear 34.7Ka detection 99% of the time. Rear any band for that matter. The fact that it's even close, considering the 9500ci's antenna is pointed forward, is remarkable in itself.Quote:

I might run this setup. If I do, the only band I will have turned on on the STI-R is Ka. I would also run the STi-R with RDR off and block out the Ka frequencies I don't need. And of course have the STi-R in spec display to see the frequency.

I've been running the v1 with the sti-r for a couple weeks now (mabey a month). After the last I/O test were the sti-r alerted to all QT I decided to pull the v1 down for a while. Interestingly the Sti-r even gain more sensitivity and better filtering. I picked up a Tennessee trooper 34.7 on a QT by a distance over two hills that literally blew my mind on the sensitivity.
I want to see if others had tried this. The v1 seems to hurt the Sti-r which was already beating the V1 all over the place anyway. Now it seems that the Sti-r is the best detector I've ever seen by FAR. I've never seen the range on detection I got the other day.
