Re: New Jersey countermeasure testing
I may hit you up on your offer for during the week (Wednesday?) if i cant do this weekend. Would really love if someone had a TrueSpeed at the testing.
Just feel bad having you take time on your day off to test my ZR4's that will most likely be instant PT. :o

Re: New Jersey countermeasure testing
Awesome day today Rob. I'm so happy I met up with you as well as the other guys cause I sure learned; a real eye opener!
After thinking I was good as gold with my LI only to get frontal PT @ 1300ft, I gotta admit I was really crushed. But thanks to you all I was up to speed within a matter of minutes....nothing beats experience! RJ & kapro thanx again!
Not only was I JTG at the test site but on my way home I was hit by a Leo at exit 2 on the Turnpike twice! I've never been so excited to get hit by laser..lol!
Anyways I hope to see you guys soon at the next big meet in May.
Here are some pics of my 1300+ ft PT setup :o

Re: New Jersey countermeasure testing
I had a great time today. I learned alot from everyone that attended. I learned firsthand how mediocre the ZR4s really are :(. I am going to try and reposition the front heads and see what improvement that makes, but I suspect I will be in the market for updated laser defense later this year. I've seen how effective the Laser Interceptors are. Does anyone have any test results for the Blinder M47s?

My guess it your ZR4 heads were too far apart. I'm theorizing that they need to be closer together to perform better overall. At the very least they should JTG on center mass.

Re: New Jersey countermeasure testing
I definitely need to move the location of the ZR4 heads. My speed was picked up at ~1200 feet. Part of the problem is the location of the heads and also that they are not level or square with the front of the vehicle. Your assessment that the heads are too far apart is spot on. Also, my front plate is not centered on the car, but is attached to where my tow hook would be attached. This merely complicates the install. I may have to rethink where to locate the front plate in conjunction with positioning the heads. After all, I need to be more stealthy. I also need to call Escort this week and request a replacement rear head.

Thanks for the offer. I am probably going to put the license plate back in the center of the bumper and move the radar antenna below that. That will make it easier for me to reposition the ZR4 heads. Also, it would allow me some flexibility to make minor changes when we run our next set of tests. General question for the group: If the changes do not result in JTG, should I get a set of LIs or would Blinder M47s work equally well? I am not trying to be cheap, I am just trying to figure out the best defense for my car. I am willing to spend the money for LIs, but I would like to know if the Blinders would work equally well. Sort of intellectual curiousity.

Re: New Jersey countermeasure testing
go with Li's. the other Porsche i tested did very well with LI's.
-
Re: New Jersey countermeasure testing
That what I am thinking also especially after what you told me about LIs. I just did not want to exclude Blinders as a possible alternative.

OK. proper leveling/and install is a must and alignment of the heads. you will be good to go:).

Check the results from our recent test at the MOAC. A lot of different set-ups from trucks to Ferrari's!
See the link:

By the way I run M47s but I have them all on the front (a bit overkill!) RSATMANS got me on my side mirror and I run an accessory plate as well.

Re: New Jersey countermeasure testing
Rob I truly appreciate the time you took the other day to test my final
setup with the UL LRB & Truspeed. I was thnking of getting 2 more heads for protecting the lower front of the car but after giving it some thought, I think I'll take the on the knees, low aim & off axis shooting 13ft front fog lamp PT and 53ft rear PT as JTG/JFG under normal conditions. I'll add veil to the rear lamps as there's not much else one can do to protect the wrap around lights at that close range. At least it's better than the 155ft off-axis rear PT on 3/27 :)
I can't wait for the PL3 test! Keep me posted on when you'll be able to test using that gun.
I think you should change your name to lidarrob with you owning damn near all the guns..lol!

your welcome no problem. PL3 should be here hopefully this week,I'm thinking of getting rear Li's on my car due to the fact they are starting to shoot from over passes near me :D.

Sweet! I just got a heads up from mikeeo today our Leos in DE use Truspeed, Ultralyte, PL2 & PL3. The only gun we didn't test against is the PL3 but I think I'll wait till the May 23 meet.
