Which radar Detector to use in Europe
Whats up Guys!
I have had many radar detectors before and liked most of them,i currently have the Bel RX65 and love it.However i know it wont work in Europe/SWITZERLAND.
I currently reside in Los Angeles.
can anyone tell me which radar detectors will work in SWITZERLAND,and what frequencies and Bands they use?I definitely need one that will be able to g into hidden mode,so that i don't get caught with it.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Dean
Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
I would also like to add that i did a search and came up with a lot of Old Threads,so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'am mostly curious if i can buy a detector here in the US and use it in SWITZERLAND.
Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
I currently own the Vector 995 M4 Platform, and I know it has the Ku Band feature for European driving. Don't know how good the range is considering I live in the states.

I would go for the V1.
The V1 is one of the few detectors which is capable to detect the "Traffic Observer" (laser measuring device).

K-Band, Ka-Band (low powered Multanova 6F) and Laser. "Section Control" is coming soon.

There are no RDDs in Switzerland.
Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
Bel sti, good european laser jammer, Al9 or laser interceptor and good gps database (snooper)
Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
I would suggest getting an undetectable Radar Detector. They are illegal in most of Europe and one can cross a border easily. I accidentally crossed the border from Italy into Switzerland with realizing it just a few months ago.
So - I would suggest a Sti / Redline etc.

Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
I live in Europe and I'm a V1 user. Even if radar detectors are illegal in most Europe, I've never seen a RDD and I travel a lot. Just hide your RD and you'll be fine. LEO will not try to detect your RD but look for it. Eye detection :)
Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
Use a remote detector where the detectors are not legal. STI and redline are still visible in the middle of the windshield. A cop will notice the detector.
RX65E and 8500X50E are good against low power photo radar.
Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
A V1 with concealed display and visor mount is virtually impossible to spot by LEO. Also, if you choose V1, don't use it in Euro mode. Send me a PM and I'll tell you the settings you should use in Europe.

That makes no sense. Not every canton uses K-Band in Switzerland so he need a opportinity to turn ON/OFF K-Band quickly and comfortable via "control knob".
Or what is your thought behind your statement?
Re: Which radar Detector to use in Europe
In Switzerland, K band 24.15 GHz and Ka band 34.36 GHz coexist. There's no need to turn one off. Plus, IMO, in Euro mode V1 becomes less responsive than in A mode with everything on. It's not like I tested this, it's just an observation I made in my trips across Europe (from Romania to France, for instance). I prefer to switch between L and A (city / highway). In Euro mode you have no Logic (city) mode and V1 can become annoying. Read some European forums and you'll see almost everybody use A and L instead of U and u.

Hello!
And thanx for all the help.
I have purchased a Redline, and i hope it will be of good use.
Anyone use the redline in europe?I have mounted it up by the rear view mirror and have the remote mounted in the Ashtray.
