Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
Which radar detector is the long-range champ?
Escort RedLine versus Valentine One: Comparison Test and Review.
I posted this over in the Escort section as well.
Not sure how many go back and forth reading Escort & V1 threads. So I figured I would posted it over here, for those who may not read it over there.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
Craig Peterson is not a reliable source of information. From what I read, he even tried to sabotage a GOL RD test.

Regardless of that, it looks like a pretty good test, and the results were pretty close on X and K band.
We'll have to wait until GOL does their test, but this is the only test I've seen like this since the Redline came out. Figured some may want to read it.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
I don't trust Craig Peterson. The testing also doesn't mention what version of V1 it was or how either detector was configured.
I'll wait for GOL thanks!

Actually, it said in the beginning that the V1s used were a 3.864 and a 3.872. Still, Peterson has always hated on the V1.

Ah, it did didn't it? I missed that. The article reads like an advertisement for the Redline so I had a hard time taking it seriously.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
X band is used in more than 2 states! Do not be fooled! Check this forum first before trusting that guy! :)

This is GOL's house and all, but if you watch that video, I doubt that a saboteur would be so daft as to include a box with his name on it. Make of that what you will.
OP, thanks for the link; I'm definitely curious as to the performance delta between the two. Have been considering selling my V1 to snag a Redline, but I've yet to see a solid opinion on whether one is significantly better performance-wise than the other.
Wish we could get Michael B. to do some laboratory testing and provide dBm numbers for the Redline.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
He banked on this review from Escort ..

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
Where is the 33.8 MPH? Not include, why? We all know! ;)

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
Do not trust the SOURCE on this test. Wait until GOL does a comparison test, then if the Redline wins, then so be it.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
If this test rubs the Administrators, or MODS the wrong way you can delete both threads in the V1 and Escort forum.
I didn't mean to step on any toes, this wasn't my intentions. I came across his forum from Veilguys blog today, and thought it was interesting..
My apologies. :)

The guy's past history is not very good and I would not believe a thing he say's. I'm sure alot of forum members will tell you the same thing.

X2. I don't doubt the evidence was found, but somebody set him up.

I think he is just plain biased towards Belscort RDs. Look at his past tests. According to his results, the Bel Vector 980 and Escort 8500 are more sensitive than the V1 not only against radar but also against laser
It goes on:
Best radar detector reviews from the world's most respected authority.
According to this, both the Bel RX65 and Escort 8500 X50 beat the V1 in overall performance and instant-on performance.
In each of his comparison tests, he complains over and over again about the false alarms the V1 generates. From this last article, he spends more time telling his readers about the new features of the Escort Redline than he does comparing the two RDs together.

That whole thing looked a little to easy to believe. Don't like CP, don't trust CP, but that video really looked like a crime drama solved on TV. Not saying the box wasn't there, but the label?? Little too much.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
This guy is something else. How many folks have been persuaded to buy an Escort to a superior Valentine over the years just by his very biased articles. What a joke. Not to mention all the other crap he's pulled. :hairfire:I wouldn't piss on this guy if he was fire.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
There should of been a Quick Trigger test and it would of shown how the Redline would get owned! The V1 still did very well even though his test is biased on the Redline!!!

Q/T and arrows are all you guys have left. The end is near.
-
Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
The test looks biased right from the beginning with the description of the redline. This biased test shouldn't discount the Redline though-Both the V1 and Redline are excellent RD's and have similar range ability. Argue about arrows and Q/T all you want though ;)

What else is there? After the arrows and Q/T all the rest is gimmicks!

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
Im not taking any sides but from all the reports of redlines and their encounters of radar, Im betting when GOL does their test--the Redline will crush the V-1.
Yes Im a long time V-1 owner but KA and the Redline are Smoking hot!
By the way when is GOL guys going to do up a test for us all:D

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
Did a search on 'sabotage' and man, this CP guy is something else. The impersonating a police officer part got me cracking up.
In short: Don't trust this guy.

Re: Tested: Escort RedLine vs. Valentine One
Good old Craig, cranking out another hot steaming pile of testing.

Craig on the new Redline:
"The chrome-free, matte black housing is highly resistant to reflecting sunlight and generates hardly any windshield glare. (This is also an attribute of the Valentine One that we've always appreciated."
08/28/08
Craig on the V1:
"The V1 is unique in this group in having a metal case rather than the usual plastic, not necessarily the optimal choice in hot southern climates, as I discovered in a more recent test."
It's good to see that Craig has always appreciated the V1's black housing because I can't seem to find that in any of his reviews for some reason. I find it interesting that he didn't bring up the fact that the Redline has a magnesium case like the V1 that might absorb heat. As you might have learned from Craig in 2008 that magensium is not the "optimal choice" in hot climates.
