LOL you really dont wanna do it. I get a lot of falses with the 9500ix before it locks them out. Itd be worst than driving around with the gps off on the 9500ix cause redline has further range. It makes it useless. I live in ny also. Just my opinion.
The Redline falses K quite a bit. The best city detectors are the 9500ci and the 9500ix.
Haven't seen much false K out the Redline as it seems to sniff out a Walgreen's door opener when it finds a K to get excited about.
I'd stick with the 9500ix though in the city. The Redline gets a bit annoying in the city, but on the open road it smokes!
sq~
I live in NYC and commute from Queens to Brooklyn everyday. I don't own a redline, but a 9500ix. The fact is in NYC there isn't a lot of speed traps simply because there is just so much traffic. In the year I've been using my 9500ix, I can only count 1 "save", it was coming off the ramp from the Cross-Island onto the Grand Central, Ka went off about 100ft before I saw a LEO stationing himself between the divider.
But the true value of the 9500ix is in the Redlight camera gps detection, THEY ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE IN NYC. Easy revenue. Without the 9500ix, I wouldn't have guessed the location of so many, and there are more and more every week.
Moreover, the 9500ix is very quiet after it learns the falses on your commutes. If it fasled like it did on my initial runs to work everytime that would drive me crazy and desentize me to the alerts, but when I do get alerted to any Ka band now, I'm adjusting my speed. I really don't think you can get a better detector for city driving at the 9500ix's price.
My V1 is not THAT bad in the city with K band. Just make sure your X band is off since they don't use it here. The only things that set off X a lot is the subway, being by an airport and the speed signs. The CVS's etc aren't that bad. I'd take a look at this vid btw..

nice video...
are you sure it is safe to turn off X band in NYC?
I would stay with the ix in the city, the Redline's false signals will drive you nuts.
stick with the ix unless you travel to Virgina or DC, the trulock feature is worth losing the couple extra seconds that the Redline may give you occasionally.
Unfortunately it usually is an LEO. The locals in my town use only X-band either C/O or I/O. With a good detector its pretty easy to pick up but psl here on most roads is 25 so not much room for error. If you're not driving in NJ often just turn off X. For off-axis detection the Redline is the better choice but if falses bother you stick with the 9500- the Redline picks up everything in Hwy mode.
