Update from earlier post today. Rear antenna on V1 went crazy while I was coming up to light. Nothing in sight except a white GMC cargo van pulling up behind me. In his windshield was a radar head and console. Add to the list!

Re: Radar Bands by Town - Updated 3/7/2011
I believe you.I turned on the X-band in my 9500ix's. I have been getting a lot more real X-band hits in various western states, and not just local LEOs. Between OR and CO I got several state troopers running X-band. I wonder if this is a deliberate move, a result of budget reductions, or something else. I don't get many false X-band alerts, and they tend to lock out fairly quickly, e.g. in a shopping center parking lot.

Probably budget issues. Pricing sheets I've seen show very little price difference between X and K band, so it is likely more to do with the department being squeezed for money to replace older units and/or they bought some X band stuff new not too long ago (MPH still sells the Python series radar with a X band option) and it just isn't time to be replaced yet. What I spotted today was a newer unit, probably a Python 2/3 with X band.

I guess they use whatever they can get. I haven't noticed KA guns on County motorcops. They are the green colored motors right? The city PD has black ones.

Been documented. I've run across I/O with the truck that's running around 894/45/794/94 (K band). Enforcement isn't that much during rush hour, but it is still done.
