Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
I think you're going to need some heave muting for falses in LA. X-off and I'd mute K a lot. Turn Ka Guard off if you want a headache.
-
Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
A-mode unless I'm in a city like SF, CA.
-
Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
"A" mode, with a remote mute button on the back of my turn signal lever.
I'll use "l" (little L) if there's a lot of door opener interference, but I'd rather have control of the awareness environment.

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
A mode, X off, POP on since K is the wide used my area these are my settings 95% of the time. While in the city little L with 30 sec. mute which is 5% of the time since I rarely go into the city unless i have too.

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
X off, Little L, 30 sec mute, A on the highway.

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
I keep it on advanced logic mode with the stock factory settings.

It's about 70% highway, 30% city. At the risk of sounding extremely noobish, why is that a bad thing?

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
No one seems to like POP, is there a reason for this???
-
Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
I drive in D mode. It sniffs out doughnuts and shows me where the cops are.

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
When i was using my V1 up front i had it set to 1,7,b,E,F,G and used small "l" when in town, "A" mode on highway.
Now i run it in the rear of my car (center break light mount) "A" mode KA guard off with my 9500ci and the volume completely turned down till get a remote volume knob.
-
Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
A mode, X and KA guard off.

Mostly because of the false KA alerts from cheap detectors before the V1 verifies its a false and J-outs the signal.
I keep my V1 in little L mode. If I am driving on back roads, highways, and on the interstate, then its A mode all the way.

How does it affect the performance to real threats? Does it have any negitive affects or positive affects minus the falses?

I'm lost too. The way your V1 is setup is more suited for highway driving and not for the city.

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
Mine's at factory setting. Haven't turned pop off yet, soon though. I leave all bands on because I have found a city that i do pass threw that still uses X. Rather have it all running than sorry in the end. On free way, I run "A", and in the city I run "l". And i have a high mount as well.
I am from Detroit area, so i don't know if I should change any of the settings. Can any locals pitch in.

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
Depends on in one's area. After using a V1 for 16 years and getting hit with the old MPH K-55 I/O X band from Troopers, I've gotten jumpy and lazy after years of being hit. So, I figured out that the V1 can be set mostly for a 2 alert volume setting for I/O. Low tab volume for weak X/ K and main loud volume for emergency hits like laser and strong X/K/ Ka-not adjustable but ok [tab 11:00/12:00 o'clock, main volume 3:00/4:00 o'clock, little l mode, Ka guard on/off- depends, pop on, 7 and b arrows down]. This allows me to not have to think about what to do when the V1 alarms. Cannot be used with a loud radio, wet road nor a follower to close.... Speed safely with common sense.... :)

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
I just messed around with mine today.
I turned pop off, x off, and incress k sensativity.
I usually dont leave my knobs in the same spot expect the mute volume knob i leave it about 12o'clock. and the main volume knob i leave about 3-4 o'clock. Anytime i get k-ka hits though i get alert on full volume. My question is how do i make it alert at mute volume untill like 4 leds and then anything higher thatn 4 it will alert on full volume?
i want mine to be set so major threaths i get full blast loud alert lol. kinda like yours
whats does 7 b down do?? the b,d, and others kinda confuse me

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
Little L mode with 30 second auto muting, however I keep the lever set to 50% of regular volume (which means it's always in the same spot as the knob). I do this for those rare occasions I encounter a cop running K band. For long highway drives I switch to A.

Here in the detroit area, i see more cops running K than KA.
so if i put it on 30 second mute, it wont full alert me unless i get 4 LEDs or stronger? doesn't make sense i though it only mutes for 30 seconds lol

Where are you seeing X band in the metro Detroit area?

It will mute any alert less than 4 LEDs for 30 seconds, then it will alert at full volume in the little L mode. In the big L mode, it won't alert at all until it is above 4 LEDs when approaching a constant source, although the logic in the V1 will alert to weaker alerts if it thinks it is encountering an I/O source.
Basically, the K band auto mute settings applies the same logic modes to K band that are applied to X band out of the box.
Personally, I still encounter a good amount of K band radar. While Ka is in the majority of encounters, many cities I drive through still own nothing but K band radar.
Anything more than 4 LEDs will alert at full volume.

Re: Which mode do keep you V1 set on
You know, the program chart for the V1 on it's website does not get across one main point that confused me for awhile. The word MUTE means two different things. In little l mode, mute means alarm normal at tab volume instead at main volume. In big L mode, mute means no alarm at all. Hope this helps newbies... :)

A with X off. Better be safe than be sorry.

Logic = 85%,
All Bogeys = 10%,
Advanced Logic = 5%

Ya, i really like the settings i use (little "l" mode). X off, 30 sec mute and rear antenna muted. Plus a found an excellent mounting position so i can use it with KA guard off but get little to no falses.
