Wish list to escort line.
1) Store last 5 frequencies in spec mode. Scroll back to recall each.
2) Enable blue tooth remote connection to NMEA external GPS, which can then record each encounter with Lat/Long details. (Like some GPS units do now with speed, add radar alerts, frequencies, etc.)
3) Arrows
4) Fix audio ramp up problems.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
Sti r + does number two in your wish list which also covers number one because you can go back and look at what frequency it was as well as location and heading.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
Good luck and maybe we might see this in our's life time.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
I just wish they would fix the ramp-up. Sucks when it seems like you were owned by I/O but really the Cop is using C/O a mile down the road.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
Yeah, I just don't understand why they won't fix it. There is also the related problem of getting a couple of Ka lights then full blast as you come upon the LEO. It's just a software issue. They could fix it easily and download it over their Internet site. it's a complex piece of gadgetry; they can surely address given they have advances of GPS, TSR, Truelock, Autolearn, Automute, etc.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
My Redline seems to have a much better ramp up then my ci. Though its still not perfect, it is better. Wonder if there is any real difference??
Re: Wish list to escort line.
RDR on/off options and Ka band segmentation like on the Sti-r.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
What I want to know is if Escort's rampup problems are intentional. Maybe someone thought that if they make the warning sound more urgent, this would help the non-enthusiast take the alert more seriously. I'm wondering if this is someone's brilliant idea and they are refusing to fix it because their ego is getting in the way. Like, this person thinks it's a great idea and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. This is an easy thing to get right, yet they refuse. Makes no sense. :dontknow:

The RedLine's rampup seems just as awful to me. No current Escort detector has even adequate rampup. It's a terrible rampup convention and Escort has its entire detector lineup in the building.

I've had my 9500ci wish list up on the Escort forum for over a year now. They've fixed two of the eight things I've asked for.....

.....but the rampup problem is not one of the things they've chosen to fix.

I gotta agree with djrams on this, I tested aa2033's Redline on the way up to the NJ test meet heading up I-95 and when it alerted to Ka I thought I just got I/Owned...real annoying I couldn't stand it and neither could he haha.

I agree, but my Redline does ramp up differently than my ci, it still is bad. Which makes me believe its not intentional because its not consistent.
I originally thought it was intentional because it reacted more urgent when within range of the LEO. But this was not the case for everyone and now that i have my Redline to compare as well, it seems more iritic from model to model, not really consistent at all.
I know for me and almost anyone i know they use auto mute so though we complain that its so important it appears it doesn't really matter in the end.
My guess is Escort will fix/improve it with there next generation of RD, too bad thats a bit far off in the future. :(
Re: Wish list to escort line.
Theyve already made the software to do this, the STi-R rampup is great, I dont really know how it compares to the V1s but when I started using my 9500IX for the first time I was like Ohhhhh this is what everyone has been *****ing about lol sounds like IO all the time
Re: Wish list to escort line.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
Why doesn't Escort just use the voice alert to show direction, for example "Ka band front" or rt.side, left side, rear etc. That way you don't even look at the detector just scan the road.

Funny you mentioned that - I had that on the list too, but pulled it off. Would be a good addition.
Ramp up aside, being able to recall at least the most recent alert frequencies would be nice, as I sometimes use it determine what sort of LEO is running it. (Local Sheriffs are using 35.5, Highway Patrol uses 34.7) I sometimes get distracted and look up at the display too late. It would also be handy when you get an alert that drops, and comes back - is it the same LEO or a different one?

Thats an interesting idea. I wonder if thatd violate any patents...
But the detector would have to be accurate at detecting where its coming from or itd just keep going "front, right, back left, front, front, back, front" etc.

VR's patent is for multiple radar antennae inside a single casing for directional purposes. It's not the arrows that are patented, it's the multiple antennae it takes to aquire the directional information.

If only you got a dollar for everytime you answered that mate..;)
Re: Wish list to escort line.
Add Band Seg to the list. I'd like to cancel out the damn Ka 33.6 falses coming from Cobra RDs.

Whats weird I noticed about the Redline is it rampup is different depending on the band. The X band rampup is really good, the K band rampup is decent, and the Ka band rampup is horrible. It's not consistent between all the bands, I think they have made a choice to over exaggerate the Ka band alerts. My X50(S7) has perfect rampup on all bands, but it seems like from the 9500i and up they either can't get it right, or have chosen not too for some reason.

Its an issue with the antenna and firmware. They have tried to tweak it via firmware which improved X & K but KA is the real issue.
A new/updated antenna design for the M4 will do the trick. But im afraid to say the M3's will always be this way.... for now.
Re: Wish list to escort line.
It's weird how the Redline's ramp up is not that great but the X50 is awesome. Ramp up ratings IMHO:
1. Escort X50 Rev 5
2. V1
3. Whistler Pro 78
4. Bel STi (after ramp up fix, much better)
Escort really needs to fix the ramp up on newer rd models. Why is the X50's ramp up so good? I never could figure that out!
