Escort x50 vs Bel Rx65 trying to decide which to get 4 wife
Does the Escort X50 really have a scanning dot or was that a joke? Cause I really would think that would be a neat thing to have on the display when its inactive... call me strange.
Does it display only in the simple mode? Because I had an old 8500 and I used it in expert mode and don't ever remember any scanning dot.
Also... I'm looking for a detector for the wife. I don't want to get a v1 because of expense, which would you recommend the X50 or the Rx65?

You have to turn the scanning dot on in the programming mode. It's a setting that's independent of the expert mode. You can set it to display C/H/A (city/highway/auto) or -/+/. instead of C/H/A as well.
The purpose of the "dot" is to let you know the detector is on without being as obvious outside the car, sort of like a dark mode where the display still works.

Depends. Do the LEOs use Ka more, or laser more? If laser, get the X50. If Ka, get the RX65. If you want a scanning dot, get the X50. If you want the detector to talk to you, get the RX65.
