The reaction is going to be just like last year's test. One thing I did notice this year is a lot of "impartial" and "no bias" advertisement shoved into the website.
Look the Cobra XRS 9970G was 4/5 in signal strength while the Redline was 4/7 on K band. Everybody who bought Redlines just wasted their money.http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...olleyes010.gif

Can somebody sum up all of that information in a paragraph for me, because I am at a loss for words. Thank God that we have the GOL team so that we can actually decipher the information that they give us.
I would have hoped for better performance out of the remote 3600 vs the Whistler 68se. The Whistler 68se being equal to a Pro78. The maximum signal strength on both Whistlers max out at nine, only at the 34.7 ghz on the 3600 constant test at 1.5 miles had a higher signal strength than the 68se. I would be willing to bet that the Whistler 3600 is equal to the Pro78. In all cases except one the 3600 numbers are lower than 68se, possiblely due to grill mounted antenna being lower than the dash or window mounted 68se. This is based on comparing relative signal strength numbers.

To me the results are meaningless. What does number of lights being lit up mean? The Redline shows MAX on X-band at nine miles. This means it's the best and most sensitive detector, right? No! But how many who are not savvy enough to realize the importance of ramp up would believe this? Or that X-band at nine miles is a threat. :rolleyes: Let's have signal strength indication at 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.5, 0.25, and 0.125 miles please. How about checking QT response. Useful information not.
Three mile laser detection. Fooey! Put some obstacles in the way, some other cars, and aim at them and see if the detector behind can pick this up. How about shooting the lidar with the sun to the shooters back? How about around a turn with a sign or something to reflect the laser beam around the turn?
Either the testers are stupid, they think their readers are stupid, or it's a sham.
Anyone notice the info on the Whistler 3600 says it can be EITHER a dash OR a remote detector???
Aha! This explains the miserable Ka ramp up on Belscorts! Their apparently intent on finishing 1st in the SML LED blinker test.:p
The Laser testing was not half bad IMO...........it was good enough to show a real performance difference between both detectors and jammers.
The Radar detector testing was........how you say..........PATHETIC. Why did they even bother?
Escort has many MAX levels on alerts. Hmm i wonder if it is the ramp up issue.:D
You kid, but there has to be some reason for this unbelievable incompetence in the rampup department by Belscort engineers.
They bother because the manufacturers pay these completely incompetent nimrods for these ridiculous test results that fail to seperate the bad detectors from the good detectors. This way, the large companies that sell the most detectors, namely Whistler and Cobra, have data that shows that they can compete with Belscort and VR.
Disco lights win SML events.
What threw me was the term "Passport Redline".
They didn't even get the product name right.

WOW!! After a quick review of the results, I should sell my V1 for a Cobra. Some companies sell well because they have a great product, others do well by lying. I must admit, a complete noob will eat these test up!!

Michael B. responds to a Whistler 3600 thread in the Whistler forum with a pretty good explanation of what went on at SML. The SML web site testing looks like testing results were posted in haste.

Seems to me that the testers, at SML, are a bunch of tired out engineers and the results show it again.
The 3600 has peaked my interest also. I will be interested in final specs and pricing.

Just wondered how they came up with the number 6 and 7. Every RD units out there don't have the same signal strength meter.
That is the whole point... some units with a #/6 means "6" is the MAX signal strength.... #/7 means "7" is the MAX signal strength... and so on.
I don't blame you for not understanding it... it's all a bunch of croc anyways, so no need to waste valuable time/effort decipher the gopher-banter presented there.
FURTHERMORE... there is no correlation to signal strength and sensitivity... so as long as long as the signal was detected, the rest means NOTHING... you cannot extrapolate how sensitive a unit is from the signal strength being displayed...
I could make a unit that responds to ANY signal (no matter how strong or weak) with full-bars 100% of the time, and circumstance, any band... as long as it can detect it.
I can see this test being useful.

The V1 has a special programming mode for idiots.....errr, testers..... that guage radar sensitivity by how many LEDs light up.
It's Option 5 in programming mode.........."adjust response of the signal response meter". I thought Valentine put it there for folks who want a jolt of adrenaline early in the morning.:p
Lets call it the SML option.:D
