8.1 mile Ka 34.7 with the Redline
I was on the 40 this week heading to the Colorado River on the Nevada/Arizona border and got an 8.1 mile Ka 34.7 alert ... my longest so far. It was even more impressive considering the cop was moving towards me the whole time. So figuring 70 mph each, that was about a million miles on the range (don't feel like doing the math but it was good). The Redline dropped the alert a couple of times, but that was due to terrain I suspect (mountains). I was very impressed, and it gave me something to do on a boring drive.
Overall, in nearly 600 miles round trip I got about five CHP hits ... however, once I got to Nevada/Arizona my Redline went crazy, I could not get in my car for even a five minute drive without getting at least one 35.5 or 33.8 hit. Hell, within 30 minutes of crossing into Nevada I got four Ka hits, LOL. Talk about speed trap heaven ... I feel bad for speeders who live in such places. It was the suck.

Wow! 8+ miles.
That's high-end performance for sure.
Re: 8.1 mile Ka 34.7 with the Redline
The Eastern California deserts make for some seriously long detections. Several of my longest detections are out in that same area, although most are on the 10, as opposed to the 40.

Awesome, I love the range of ours Redline.
Re: 8.1 mile Ka 34.7 with the Redline
Haha so with it alerting all the time you were never really able to speed...FAIL!

Excellent Range, Good on ya (and your Redline)

Back in 2007 in AZ, me and Don had a shootout, my V1 vs his SR7 vs 35.5gh. My V1 alerted more than 5 miles out but in Ohio I would be lucky to get .75 of a mile warning on 35.5.

No, that's the point ... there were so many cops in those little border towns looking to generate revenue I could not speed at all. There was one nice curve where I wanted to punch it, and almost as soon as I hit the throttle I got a 35.5 hit. Crazy speed trap enforcement out there.

Yeah, 35.5 is a b*tch. I had a good 35.5 alert over a hill, but it was only a half mile ... I was doing the speed limit at the time because of all the enforcement, so can't call it a save. On my way back I got a mile on 35.5 from a cop shooting the opposite direction ... he was at the base of a hill waiting to bust people coming over it. LOL. I'd hate to live in such a speed trap heaven like that. I guess they need the money.

Awesome detection. Awesome RD. Those cops out there don't have a chance!
Re: 8.1 mile Ka 34.7 with the Redline
Obsidian, The longest hit I've had was 4.6 miles on the 14 heading to palmdale. But on your route 8 miles is definetly workable for a RedLine. The thing is a wonder on the flats.
Re: 8.1 mile Ka 34.7 with the Redline
That's pretty awesome detection there. My best is 7 miles with the 3.872. (against stationary, C/O, 34.7)

In summer Nevada Highway Patrol is all 'out there' in the boonies and in larger numbers. After Labor Day, they will pretty much stick to nearby towns, for the duration until Memorial Day (with exceptions for Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Years).
Great report, btw...
Hey, if you're a member of Escort Radar Forum, post that on the Redline section with the sticky for "Long Range" reports. :)
