The newer ones are supposed to have had that service required problem fixed.

Matte black should be the newest. Mine was built the last week of Dec 09 and it's matte.

after reviewing the redline and the 8500 x50... i dont see the difference between them besides the redline not being able to be detected...
im looking to save money.... and if the 8500 is the same thing than i would rather save the $200....
what would you say?

I would NOT order from Amazon. They seem to have really old stock. I ordered my first Redline from Amazon because they sent me a 20 percent off coupon for any Escort detector. I was all psyched to get it and when I did it had a build date of mid 2009! Bear in mind that I ordered it two months ago. I returned it and ordered a new one from Radar Busters...I talked to GreenRadar and told him I really wanted a recent build date. When I got it it had a build date of June 2010, exactly what I wanted.
would it be worth it for me to get the redline... as we dont have much radar here?

as you have probably read a few times there is no detector out there that will really protect you from laser, for that you will need a laser jammer, however the redline may be able to pick up laser from time to time, but if it does and you are above the PSL, then you should just get ready to pull over, cause he will already have your speedQuote:
