Greetings from North Carolina
Like the forum. Fascinating info.
I am looking at purchasing a 9500ci and an additional laser jammer for a new car (Honda Accord Coupe, V6, stick) I plan to purchase in the next week to nine months.
I started looking at radar detectors (and laser jammers) after recently receiving a ticket for 39 in a 20. It is highly likely that a radar detector would have warned me about the cop sitting at the speed trap *cough*, I mean steep hill which I drove down. I have looked at the hill and driven it a number of times since then and honestly I was driving a completely logical and normal rate of speed given the road. Expecting drivers to maintain such a slow pace on that stretch of road is just a f***ing money maker, but oh well. I'm here.
Besides watching the grass grow as I drive around the local area, I take many, many trips to Atlanta and across North Carolina. Hopefully I can hook up with some of you at a radar and laser detector testing meet and get my equipment checked after I get my new car.

An old Toyota truck with 353,000 miles. It is on its last leg and is not worth putting a detector in at this point; it overheats when I drive it more than 5 miles at a time or when I drive faster than 50mph. I would not be surprised if it broke down completely TODAY. Currently, I am milking it for all its worth to save up a sizable down payment on a new vehicle. Luckily I do not drive far to work and live in a small area where everything is close.

Ok, when you get the Honda, post a pic of it (license plate covered), and we'll get you taken care of on jammer head placement.

I go to NC a couple times a year from CT and the 9500ci has served me well in that area. Welcome to the forum.

That is good to know. The 9500ci seems to be the best installed detector out there if you can forgive its ramp up and jamming shortcomings.

I know your pain in NC, I'm from there myself and know all the crazy lengths the NC State/Counties go to for speed enforcement. Your ticket '39 in a 20' will be painful if you have a NC DL and will require some court cost/lawyer help to keep your DL.

Surprisingly I walked away from court with my drivers license in hand, a small fine (fine + court fees) and NO POINTS, but I do have to be careful for the next three years until the ticket drops off.
Before the hearing I had an "official" copy of my driving record sent to me. I gave the DA my driving record and asked him to lower the ticket and he did so. If he had refused I would have asked to see the judge and used my "prayer-for-judgment" to get the ticket eliminated.
In North Carolina a PFJ is a free pass that can be used for a number of minor traffic offenses. Since I got the ticket lowered to less than 9 over the speed limit it did not make since to use my PFJ; you get one PFJ in NC every three years. Additionally, since the ticket was for less than 9 over the limit my insurance was not affected. Additionally, I did it all without, and for less than, what I would have paid a lawyer.

I went to court on my 40th birthday (yes the court date was on my actual birthday!). Welcome to the forum, never heard of "prayer-for-judgment" sounds interesting. But I like to use the "Pray for peace but Prepare for War" approach, get a good quality RD, Jammers, CB radio, pay attention, use a rabbit and hopefully you never need to use your PFJ.

Welcome to the forum man. Sorry to hear you're from NC, it is the worst state on speeding penalties right behind Virginia. Also, if you get any tickets out of state they will treat it as if it happened in NC and suspend your license if going over 15 MPH. First advice, move to a different state (Not VA either). 9500CI is a good unit, but beware, they do use Quick Trigger in NC, and you need to purchase a real laser jammer (LI or Blinder) since the ones with the 9500CI won't protect you against anything. The 9500CI will miss the Quick Trigger shots, so be careful on the highways with the sneaky NCSHP.

Glad I wasn't pulled over doing over PSL quite a bit on I40, and i was only running my 9500ix at the time. Got a few RLC alerts that helped in NC as well.
Was thinking of moving to NC, but now NC is added to my don't move list that only had TX on it.
