Mobile speed vans suck!!!
Welcome to our most excellent forum
Welcome! Enjoy the forum.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome lots of wise folks here
Welcome mate. There are a few more of us from Ireland on here and this thread should help you with the new gosafe vans...
http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...adar-unit.html
We are still waiting for one of us to come across one of these things to test the range they can be detected at. Once we know, you will see the results on here ASAP. For the moment, there are only around 15 of the 45 promised units in operation so they are rare enough still which is why we have not seen any so far.
In the meantime, I hope this site can help you gain a bit more knowledge about how speed detection equipment operates and as always, ask away. Only too glad to help .
Thanks For That ( And To Everyone Else). As A relative newcomer to this whole scene, I realise I may have been a bit hasty when I recently purchased a Snooper 3Zero but I too will post any results I can measure if indeed I come across one of the vans. Am I correct in thinking no matter what, with the new vans, you need some sort of diffuser, regardless of any anvance warning from a detector device as once a RD is triggered by Laser, you are already spotted?
I do not know if that Snooper will be any good. This is another Irish guy's video of one in action and it seemed to be useless against a regular pole mounted GATSO camera...

If it was unable to detect that, it will probably be even worse against these new low powered K band Redflex radar vans so I wouldn't depend on it but by all means, try it out and see the results for yourself but be careful ;).
A few of us on here are using the Valentine One (V1) and even this quality detector may have difficulties with these vans. hopefully one of us will score and find one of these things soon to see how well it works against them.
I did the same before myself so dont feel too bad. I went out and bought the first thing I saw which was pretty much useless and then had to spend the money on what actually works after that and it ended up being more expensive in the long run :(.
To answer your second point, the cops here still use laser so you will need a diffuser/jammer against that. Laser Pro Park still works well in Ireland but Laser Interceptor or Blinder will also work and they all now have a parking function to give you a reason to have them on your car. They will set you back a fair bit but the peace of mind while driving is priceless IMO after 3+ years of using them.
The principle of using a jammer/diffuser is to slow down to the PSL (posted speed limit) when hit by laser and switch it off so the cop can get your speed and raise no suspicion. Do this and you should have no problems. JTG (jam to gun) and you will be nicked as it would be obvious you were up to something.
They also run rear laser from slip roads as you pass on the road below like this...

..so a rear mounted jammer will also be necessary unless you dont mind slowing down at every on ramp just in case. I have been hit twice in this fashion myself BTW.
The new vans only run radar which cannot be jammed but if you detect it and slow down in time (or possibly even see the van up the road) you should be fine. That is how you use a RD.
Hope this helps but you are going to have to spend a good bit of money to be protected against everything unfortunately.
welcome to the forum, new product reviews are always appreciated here, so if you can tell us how your snooper works out that would be great.

Welcome, i am only new to the forum as well and I have already learnt heaps. Interested to hear more about Ireland and radar/laser threats as i visit a couple of times a year.
