Search the forum, we have a huge discussion on this already.
Can you link
Not going to happen, new people have been asking this question every year since the 80's and it has never happened. However the V1 works just fine the way it is, though they could do some improvements.
Hardware is not the problem with the V1, they need a complete functionality redesign.
Would love a Spectre immune V2 for us stuck in the dark ages (Canada)
Actually the valentine 4 or 5 is coming. Watch this thread for more details.
I'm gonna guess that you have never used a valentine..... correct?? Well... I have one, and would never even consider trading it for one on the "new rd" that you speak of.
One of the beauties of a Valentine is that you don't have to buy a whole new radar detector to keep up with the latest. Many people have had their V1s for a long long time. They upgrade it because the V1s are upgradeable. I think it is actually a very nice feature.
Wait til the New Year...then we'll see whats up. Should be interesting.
Which New Year? 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 . . . . . lol Serioously, I don't know if MV is willing to invest a lot of money for a new V1. He is comfortable with the cost of the current design and the profit he gets from it unless a competitor will have directional capabilities with quick response time to short burst of radar. Otherwise, the v1 will still be around for a long time. If ain't broke, don't fix it.
It will come when Mike is ready.I am sure he is busy working on something.

For starters on the Redline, I'd rather have Q/T, I/O, and ramp up taken care of as a priority over the "addition" of GPS.
As anyone knows who's been around this obsession since the Cincinatti Microwave days........Mikey didn't get in this business to be 2nd best. You would also know that he doesn't move unless pushed.
I don't think the $1500 remote M3s upset him too much, but the RedLine will not be tolerated.........for very long that is.:p
Ridiculous, doesn't work:
"new V1"= Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
"v2"= The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search:
Give a search that would work, then be critical. The search button on these forums suck, plain and simple.
I'll be honest: if Valentine Research had come out with a remote custom-installed RD with front and back receivers and arrows on the display, I would own one (and probably more than one). I'm sure I'm not alone in this, either. If he's not upset by that, he sure as hell ought to be. :p
GPS capabilities are the only thing besides stealth that the V1 needs, as far as I am concerned.
On the Stealth issue, we already hear stories of Redlines being detected by the Spectre. On the GPS issue, the stories of TruLock failures are never ending. So what we have is a company who is just tossing crap out for the consumer to work the bugs out of for them and calling it "progress". I call it premature ejaculation, and the consumer is the one getting spooged.
I'm happy to wait until Mike releases something that he KNOWS is ready for prime time.
I agree that all the V1 needs is GPS & stealth. But with any progress there are always tweaks that need to be made, even with the V1. The difference is VR doesn't promote progress, they promote complacency which is not a good thing. Someone needs to give belscort a run for there money, but no one is willing to try.
I will have a new respect for Mike V if he is working on a flawless GPS and stealth unit. But we all know he will never do it.
I would love to have a separate display to let me know what the frequency is rather any gps feature. and of course spectre immunity...
My thinking as well.Quote:

LOL! I think they are already giving themselves a run for their own money. Have you seen the product lineup lately? They are running so fast in the sake of progress as you say that they can't even get ONE of their current product fully up to par to cover all areas of RD enforcement tactics .Quote:

Until then I'll remain with my complacent V wonder. At least we ALL know 4 things are certain: its consistent; it works well across the board; if a product appears it will be correct and it will not be pulled off the market because of "lack of sales" or for any other BS excuse for that matter.
This thread is still going huh? Well I might as well add this since not a single thing that has been said (or as importantly done) in here (that) hasn't been said 5+ times by forum members before (Just me alone... I've said most everything in here before)...

There... NOW the thread is productive... carry on minions.
The problem with zombies is that it only leaves two outcomes if Mike doesn't do anything:
1. Belscort uses arrows, V1 loses sales, bankruptcy
2. The V1 will have to be sold at a lower price.
I know what all of us experienced people will say, but the fact of the matter is that 98.5% of RD consumers know as much about them as LEOs do. So the "sensitivity" and "QT" ability don't matter to 98.5% of people. So that does NOT drive sales. The ONLY thing that does is the arrows. Sad, but true.
I admit I am a Belscort fan (yes, knowing the problems), but I WANT Mike to give them a run, but I don't see it happening.
Very true. I'm a "fan" of whoever makes the best detector for me. I'll buy it from Iran, if they make it! My loyalty is to my driver licence, and nothing else. But you're absolutely right, competition is a big plus for the consumer.
It's just a shame that RD sales are so heavily driven by marketing hype, and not real performance factors. Not that I care who sells what. And, for that matter, I'm perfectly fine with the uneducated getting pwnt. But damn, like everyone else here, I'd sure like to have "it all" in one package, instead of having to decide which factors I will compromise when I buy an RD.
I am not sure that Valentine Research will lose sales or have to lower their price. You know if Belscort adds another antenna and arrows, their price will probably be jacked up to $600 which means that a $399 V1 will still be a great price. On top of that, who in here believes that Belscort can add arrows and that they will work correctly instead of everybody being a guinea pig for Belscort. I put my trust in Mike Valentine and the V1 because he has been using multiple antennas and arrows since 1998.
Maybe that will keep the bean counters at Belscort from jacking it up. The ONLY reason their prices suck is because they have no competition when it comes to adding features that the AVERAGE person wants. Once the patent is up for arrows, it's Katy bar the door.
We can talk all day about the problems with TrueLock, AutoLearn, etc., BUT again I say that 98.5% of the buyers buy the RD, plug it in, and that's the end of the story. I personally like the Truelock feature, and use it daily. I have, knock on wood, never had a problem with it. BUT I am not the average buyer. I would say the average buyer wouldn't know if they had a problem. H3LL, the average buyer thinks a radar detector should go off every time you see a LEO.
I paid $400 for arrows, $1600 for 9500ix features with an M3 antenna, and another $500 for "multiple signals detected" voice alert and high mount M3 sensitivity. Anything under $2500 with all those features ill be happy.
Perfection is not easy to have, unless your willing to pay. VR will still make the V1 the way it is at the same price as always. They will just sell less and less until they have less and less buyers.
Echo... eeccchhooooooo... eeeecccchhhhhhoooooooooooo.
Sorry, sounds like everything here has been said before... lulz!
