Running V1 and Redline together for 24 hours Straight.
Well, more like 21 hours since I won't be driving the PSL. Thoughts? Concerns? I'm going from CT to FL. I've never ran two RD's at the same time, nor have I ever ran a RD for this long, ever. Has anyone ever done this? I know the theory is to not run two at the same time, however, I know a lot of people here run these two together on a daily basis.

If you are going to be running two detectors at the same time, be sure to have them as far apart from each other as possible. The Redline won't interfere with the V1 at all but the V1 may possibly interfere with the Redline. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

I run my V1 and Redline side by side on my visor, and have had no apparent indications of interference on either.
If anything, the V1 may affect the Redline, but even so, the Redline beats the V1 on most encounters. Sometimes the V1 "wins", but in any case, you'll get plenty of warning from one unit or the other! They complement each other well. Run the Redline in spec mode so you can get the Ka frequencies, and use the V1 for arrows.

you should be fine....
I run two all the tiem. No apparent issues...
Maybe use a A/C vent to cool the detectors...they will get warn like any piece of electronic equipment...

Just wondering, is there actually any evidence that a distance of 2-3 feet apart produces less interference than 6 inches apart? It just seems hard to believe that it would do anything at all. I plan on running 2 detectors for a while, so i just wanted to know if there is anything that has been demonstrated to show the distance between them matters....
Glad to hear a lot of people run the v1 and redline together without any noted problems.

I've never seen any hard proof for them having a difference but, I've been this is what I've been informed of in that past.

There has been alot written on this topic. From my understaning Two M3 based units ( non-leaking units) should be at least 3" apart. However, the V1 will leak so I would separate the units as much as possible. I have not seen any tests that show the exact distance But we do know that there will be an affect on the Redline. Many forum members due use the Redline and V1 so the interference does not affect performance to the point that they will not compliment each other. I seem to remember a GOL test that showed how two RD's interfere, you might want to check it out. I'll see if I can find it.

I have a similar set up with one on each side of the mirror. And I agree with this about performance. You could give your V1 a break in VA since there could be a spectre in use

The attached link shows the affect that operating the 9500ci and V1 at the same time has on the responsiveness of the 9500ci. Look at the last set of test measurements.

When I mounted a RL and V1 with about 3" between them, the RL went blind and deaf in respect to detecting known false alerts (door openers, etc) along my daily commute--it was shocking. When I moved them to opposite sides at the top of the windshield, I haven't been able to see any changes in either RD's behavior in terms of how they react when run together or singly.
Personally, I would advise caution running two RD's together until you are thoroughly familiar with how each RD acts when run by its self. However, I've have a bunch of times where the V1 just plain let me down, and the Redline saved my bacon.

"All superheterodyne radar detectors use a combination of local oscillators to enable conversion of the radar signals to a lower frequency for processing. These oscillators can combine (mix) in various ways inside the detector to produce signals that are in the same frequency bands as those being detected. Some of the signals track the receiving frequency of the detector offset by the final IF frequency being used. Since the final IF frequency is usually quite low, the "tracking interference" signals appear very close to the instantaneous tuning frequency of the offending detector. Since most all detectors are swept, the up-converted final-LO signals are swept throughout the bands being received. Two identical detectors operating near each other can receive each other's LO mixing products if one detector happens to be tuned to a frequency offset from the other detector by the IF frequency. This circumstance may seem to be very improbable to occur in practice, but it happens quite frequently. Since even two detectors of the same, exact type are rarely identical in sweep rate due to tolerances in manufacturing, there will be a phenomenon where the differences in sweep rate will cause the mixed LO products to "crawl" past the receiving frequency of the other detector over a period of time.
I first observed the process described above when simultaneously testing two original Escort detectors in the late 1970's. The sweep rates were controlled in each Escort by quartz watch crystals which provided nearly identical sweep rates. Every few minutes, one of the Escorts would begin to alert while the other would be silent. Then, the alert would pass and the other Escort would begin to alert. A few seconds later both detectors would be silent. This cycle would repeat a few minutes later. The interval between disturbances would be longer if the sweep rates were closer to identical. One can think of the process as a beat note between two musical instruments tuned to nearly the same note. In perfect tune, the beat note disappears.
Of course, if the detectors are of different types, the beat notes between sweep rates will be very rapid and continuous interference is quite evident. It's only two detectors with nearly identical sweep rates that produce this minute-to-minute style of intermittent interference."

No reason to get defensive about it this is not about what RD is better, everyone knows the M3 platform specifically the STI R Plus is THE ONE

I'm with Happy, Swamp and Airmoore on this one. Superhets bleed RF emissions......it's a fact.....and these emissions can be all over the place with respect to frequency (Sweeping primary and secondary LOs along with harmonics and mixer by-products). It's like two roulette wheels spinning in opposite directions.......as long as they are out of sync you might be OK, but when they line up one is going to interfere with the other. This convergence is irratic but happens often enough that it can and will spoil real Radar detections.
We've seen the V1 slow down the reaction of a remote 9500ci consistently in reaction time testing and one would have to assume that perhaps the ci was dialed back a bit in range as well having to deal with the V1's emissions. I've also had a V1 go totally mute to a LEO running 34.7 CO just 200 ft ahead because of an RX65 running about 18" away on the same windshield.
Frankly, I don't even subscribe to the idea that two M3s can be run together without possible interference between the two. The M3 is undetectable because it has extremely weak emissions in the range where RDDs hunt (10-25 GHZ)......but within the same cabin it still might be strong enough to play with another "super sensitive" detector such as another M3 or V1. Let's face it, the RF detector inside the Spectre RDD is probably not in the same class as a low end Cobra. Also, it has been confirmed that the M3 bleeds detectable energy when it runs through a self cal and this happens on a regular basis transparent to the user.
Just to verify this. Set your V1 and Redline up about 12" apart facing each other. Power on the V1 1st and give it a few seconds after the power on sequence to ensure it's scanning for radar. Then, power on the RedLine. The RedLine goes through an intitial self cal upon power up......so that immediate introduction of emissions from the RedLine may be enough to set off your V1.
