You have a better chance of seeing God or a Valentine2
I think you will eventually see it, but it is taking a long time to bring to market.
I'm not sure of all the delays, I do know they are testing the first manufactured unit now. I loaned them my guns for testing the week of the tornadoes. I do know the Chariot is without power due to the storms. The plan was for them to tweak the units for a few weeks then let me shoot the units for a test. But I have only heard from him sporadically the last few weeks since he is still without power.
I know one of the major delays has been the economy. Being self employed they are spending more time on their primary jobs versus developing this product.
The original plan was for me to test sometime this month, but I suspect that will be pushed back due to the storm damage and power outages. I'm as anxious as anyone to get my hands on this product, especially since there seems to be more anti jammer laws on the horizon. I've just adopted the it will happen when it happens attitude. hopefully I'll get a call in the next few weeks, but I've been hoping for that call for 6 months now.
What the laser tamer website again?
Looking forward to these coming out too, since it's really the only option I have for adding rear heads to my car.
I didn't really know about this till I saw this thread. I looked it up. Is it basically something that is easy to mount anywhere on any vehicle, just has to connect to the sensors which can be placed anywhere as long as the cables reach?
A more cynical person may think the release date hinders on more jurisdictions making jammers illegal thus driving up the market (price) for their product.
Me too!!!
I am personally less concerned about how well they will perform and more concerned about their longevity. Fiber optics is usually delicate stuff. I'm not sure how well they will handle bouncing and rattling down the road for miles and miles.
A legitimate concern. I can see the need for a more regular testing regime with these installed. Also the install will need to minimize vibration to maximize the life of the fiber.
ECCTG is more than willing to test them on Blinder and LI systems.
I'd rather wait longer and have it work than a product not fully tested. Saying that I'm still waiting to install my LI's with the LT's as I don't want to cut the grill!

Speeddemon, I like the pig.
My two cents.............not every bird nest on the ground really is. I spent two hundred thousand a few years ago on a fantastic product only to learn that I had a great solution in search of a problem. The question is, how many folks will actually spend the money to buy and the time to install this product?
Other factors: I wonder if one of the more difficult engineering problems may be the attenuation of the laser in the fiber bundle. Multiple laser diodes in a head may complicate matters, requiring additional fiber cables. Alignment could be a thorny problem to overcome. How many potential customers really exist?
As in my own case a few years ago, one ultimately has to decide if he is really riding a dead horse and make the uncomfortable decision to dismount and move on.
While I agree there are problems for them to overcome, I believe the potential market for this is huge.
First off NO ONE does installs with optimum placement because most people care quite a bit about aesthetics and/or stealth. This solves the aesthetic problem while allowing for tons of placement possibilities.
Furthermore, the number one reason PT occurs is because the jammer stops seeing the beam. The Tamers double your # of inputs. Enough said.
This product will appeal to the hardcore enthusiasts as well as the guys that don't want to screw up the looks of their benz.
And to people who live in places where there are serious fines and or jail for jammers. I believe there is a market, now to just deliver a product to that market.
I would definitely want this. My concern is how will they hold up over time? Fiber optics bundles are fragile.
Ive worked with fiber but the fiber used for networking youd be surprised as it is very flexible especially the http://www.corning.com/opticalfiber/...ode_fiber.aspx. The problem i could see is the tip getting really dirty within hours of driving. Since the tip is such a small surface area how do u keep it constantly clean. And what performance hit do you take if its dirty. Now i guess you could over come this by landing more fiber runs at the lic plate. So even if there is only 10 percent transmitting out of one glass tip. I guess if you have enough of them you could effectively overcome this problem too.
You wouldn't expose the fiber tip, you'd have some kind of collimating lens on it. It would have a larger surface area and would be more immune to dirt than an exposed fiber tip.

I am not as excited about this as I once was. Yes, it will offer better mounting options, requiring a lot less cutting on some vehicles. But as for stealth, I don't think it's going to be a significant help to us. It's damn rare that a cop pulls you over because he saw your jammer. It is usually because he simply knew he was being jammed. And if he pulls you over because he knew you were jamming him, then how well the heads are hidden is irrelevant. You're still busted.
But if he pulls you over on a "suspicion" of jamming and doesn't find any evidence of jammer heads on your vehicle (thanks to the Tamers) than he will likely dismiss it as a fluke or false alarm and let you go. And over time, it may discredit their "I think I just got jammed" spidey senses enough that they'll start letting cars go instead of pulling them over on an unreliable hunch.
That is, as long as those who use these things are smart and only JTK with them.
month bump for any new info :)
