Holy Crap I am very very DISSAPOINTED in VR. I hope this gets back to Mike-Valentine

Had a bad phone call with a lady at VR. It made me so mad I went and bought an Escort 9500ix.
Boy was that a mistake. It was litterally JUNK. Off angle detection = Junk. Detection Range = Junk
Everything online that rated Escorts detectors being close to that of V1 now to me personally.. has to be bought and paid off stats!

This is my 3rd Valentine One Radar Locator!
So long as Mike Valentine is making RD's ... It's the only thing I will invest my hard earned $$ into!

After getting off the phone and feeling absolutely irritated and un-comfortible with a person who was that rude made me wonder 'What if I got a bad unit?' I would have to deal with such horrible customer service. So I thought I would complain here. Here is where I got very angry. I asked Alice her last name or operator number in a very friendly tone. She avoided the subject like a liar does when caught. I nearly was about to just flat out ask her "So you absolutely will not give me your last name or operator number?", but she provided the last name Adams.

Here's how much I don't trust the situation. I think she gave me a wrong last name. After a few minutes gone by I figured I would call back and go ahead and commit with the exaggerated 71$ charge to ship out the device. I called back and a lady answered. It was the same lady I spoke to. I recognized the voice to the point I called her by the name she originally provided me, and she recognized it was me and stated and when I asked her name she mumbled and said "Penny".
I doubted myself although suspicious of her voice and went forward anyways wanting my V1. She then told me sorry we are past 12 noone and we don't ship out anything further sir. So basically there was zero option of getting my V1 on Saturday despite the fact I was very willing to pay the extra costs.

SO YOU LOST A SALE!!! Up until now I have been 100% PRO V1. I have never tried an escort product. I called escort ordered a green unit since they are out of all other colors. I spoke with a Barbara Carson. So now I am about to go on to the escort forum and post this up, and post I am soon to try my first Escort 9500ix.

Thats fine with me. The way I see it. Sooner or later with escorts network of people growing and as the tech follows moores law the escort live service will pretty much render V1 obsolete. This is coming from a v1 zombie you could say, but I love tech, and escorts providing it!

I was not happy with the OBDII "Suavvy".. honestly thats poor tech seriously. Unless V1 will interface into a GPS system and can do what escort is doing I will not hesitate to openly say I see V1 going chapter 11.

So for those RF enthusiest as myself. Lets hope the genius man behind the arrows will supprise us with something far more impressive!

Btw... .I got my ticket because my damn ford focus 2001 speed sensor is failing. My Speedometer zero's out all the time. So the speed readout on 9500ix will be helpfull until I get this fixxed. Also I had wondered with a fauly speed sensor if suavvy would fail to do its job anyways. *Got to think about those things* ;)

OH well... Im gonna give this unit a shot and see what its all about. I am up to purchase another unit. So maybe I will buy a v1 via the website to avoid such poor customer service voice which just irritates me, or if my wife falls in love with the 9500ix we will just set them both up with escort live service! I'm dying to do this just to show off techy stuff to my co-workers.

Thanks for this reply. I really last the very last sentence :) . Lmao.. reading one of Mike V's replies here on the forums taught me a new word "Sullied" . I'm always looking to learn new stuff, and Mike seems like the guy any intellect would just LOVE to be around.

Allice burned me that day, and really taught me to avoid VR and calling them by phone. Something told me I should have just ordered via online, but thats the problem these days. Being a graduate in electronics, and like many here who love RF, spectrums, science, etc.. it's not common we can talk to our friends, or family who dont comprehend the tech we so love. It's like when you build out a DOS machine, or an old linux computer, and use an amberchrome monitor TODAY, and yet at wal-mart their cheapest machine has nearly 4ghz of processing power and 6gb of ram, but the DOS machine is 4mb upgraded to 8mb. Lmao.
The graphics card cannot handle duel monitors, but it can handle one monitor, and the second being an ambermonochrome if you know how to extend the memory using some DOS syntax. WHY mess with such a legacy system? Why dig in C functions, or C++ fow hours trying to understand how the function works and instead of just using it and knowing it does this or that?? Because we are techy people by nature and heart.

So when I called VR.. part of me wanted to chatter a bit. Give a little break to the VR rep, and let them talk about the hardware they sell and represent. Poke their brains a little. WHen I ordered my first V1. It was a gentlmen I spoke with, and I had a great conversation with him. To have a mean "old" sounding lady speak to you condensending when you consider yourself an intelligent person. One who understands hisher brain is capable of sending RF and images to a robot on mars 300 million miles away, and getting mass spectrum analysis of dirt and rocks from such a distant place.. you know your a human and what humans can do. Talking with idiots, or talking with someone who treats you like one will quickly make you change direction of a purchase.

So I'm about to drop a couple grand on a new vehicle, and want to radar protect it. Since I will try out escorts passport. I will also order a V1 (FROM THE WEBSITE), because I got a thing for mikes system, and it works!

Deep down inside even though I do not personally know this intelligent genius who devised this hardware. I pray he researches into interfacing his system with a GPS. I worry Mike wont have us V1's 5 years from now with the way escort is going in their direction. Being a business owner, and knowing competition.. Ive sliced throats in every way when I noticed they were doing it to me (Speaking in analogy). As Mike said people will sully your reputation any way possible, and escort is doing that to him etc.. The fact is in his own defense. The man is expert and innovative, but now I think that shell is being built around him.

The old lady made me think she wasnt being paid well. Made me think she hated her job. This resulted in me thinking Mike is stressed out, or not doing as well, and seeing chapter 13 or something. IF YOU CANT BEATEM JOIN'EM.
Money wise if Mike cant afford the R&D to bring V1 to the next level. I wonder what Escort would offer him as a joint owner or something to merge systems. I think he would financially secure himself! On the side note.. if Mike builds his own system to be LIVE like Escort is.. they will be entirely shut out!

Those arrows keep him alive, and we all know this. The man is brilliant, but what V1 was to me years ago as an entry level tech is not as astounding today. :) The "Escort V1 LIVE Enterprise Supreme Defense System" as I woud call it lmao. for 700$ is definitely without question something I would drop dough on in a heart beat!

Makes me wonder if Escort has ever dropped a letter on Mike with such an offer.
I had to cough my business up, and do the same. The result for me was I made more money, and was co-owner, but not THE OWNER. When the pride let the title go away .. the money I made was worth it in the end.
No matter what though. I know this! V1 will be around always! If I was Mike. If GPS enabling my system wasnt affordible or plausible to make fast enough return on the investment. Ide have a contract with Escort stating my CEOVP title, stock holdings, and a perminant contract to always keep my name in the game! Thats just me, but again I'm not the Genius Mike Valentine, and I am wonder what that man has up his sleeve for his businesssystem, and us end users.

Yeah Mike V can’t be too bad of a guy to keep that dinosaur in a living (no real insult intended). With the number of threads posted in this forum referring to her very unfriendly attitude, I'm sure it has cost them a sale or two over the years. You would almost think she's part of the family.;)
I'm very sure I have talked to her one or two times and she was very nice to me maybe it’s because I was being very nice with my very exotic sexy kiwi accent lol. I have dealt with Mike via email with technical question and he is first class. One day I rang and got Mike V himself! Now that was a real buzz for a down under zombie I tell ya. I asked him if he would like to bring over the Porsche and drive on our lovely touring roads, he declined giving the excuse that the postage for the car was too expensive lol.

The one thing that you guys are forgetting that Mike got to go home with her we don't. He can care less what we think or say about the old lady or him because no doubt that she can make his life a living "HELL".

ok, anyone who has read the V1 forums knows by now that that woman who answers the phone for VR has a nasty streak. No one can argue that. The few times I have called, I have never experienced it. What I don't get, is that CodeyOebel states in the thread about going from 3.863 to 3.893 states this:

So having said that you would settle for a far more inferior product because the lady hurt your feelings? Geez you need some thicker skin. Just one more rabbit on the road for me to stay behind.

The ix is very on par with the detection. I have owned two v1's I know what I am in for when I own a V1. However.. what totally defeats situational awareness that V1 provides.. is Escorts "LIVE". That is TOTAL AWARENESS stating many people are on the network.. it simply cannot be defeated; Not even by the arrows!

To many videos confirm they both detect at about the same time and distance! Around curves and hills! Add LIVE into the equation, and we have a new ball game.

Yes.. I can absolutely GIVE A Flat FK about a product with poor customer service. Lmao.. However I havent dealt or spoke with Mike direct. That might change my perspective. Also "I" did not know of this mean woman. So for me it was a horrible experience.

To make things even worse though the order I placed with escort is going sour so far.
I paid for saturday shipping. Sat shipping was un-available. So it is due to arrive today! (monday), but the tracking number provided to me is not showing me anything.
Spoke with a few reps already. They cant tell me anything because the tracking number does not show up. I paid for a next day shipping. NOT 2 day shipping. So I'm going to throw a definite gripe if the unit does not arrive TODAY!

It's definitely not my radar detection weekend I will tell you that!

The Ix's filtering is slow to respond to brief signals.

Well, it must have something to do with Cincinnati customer service, as I just had a problem with Escort. As a northern Ohioan, I thought those to the south in state always had the reputation of being much more hospitable. The common thread seems to be both V1 and Escort are located in the Cincinnati region. I hope you get your ix with 'live' soon, but not if you ordered the 'Race Red Edition'. I placed an order over two weeks ago. On the site, the receipt indicates 'order completed'. It did not list any shipping or tracking info. After waiting a week, I messaged them on their chat feature. They advised the order should be placed 'soon'. Another several days went by and I had to message them again. This time they said they were on 'back order' and should ship out today. Checked again today and finally cancelled my order. The kicker is when I asked for an emailed acknowledgement that the order was cancelled, the rep indicated 'she doesn't have a script for that.' I was all set to call V1 instead but thought I would read up on any developments in this forum! I guess I would rather put up with rudeness so long as I had some prompt response and shipping rather than a smiley chat feature that places my order on hold for weeks!

I agree with you Thevorlon.

See what he failed to read and think about is I stated "Quality product" meaning the design and architecture of the V1 is solid, built solid, and is quality work! I also said "Precision" instrument. Another correct statement.

What I did not say was that V1 was the most "Superior" instrument. He filled those words in for himself. Hands down the escort is a robot with android like intelligence compared to V1.
Escort 9500 provides absolute situational awareness. Defense networking (replacing CB radios with an itnelligent map system that shows detected threats) which is in my opinion un-defeatable in defense.
The fact that escort delays a second .. a SECOND .. when encountering a threat compared to V1 (I watched the videos I seen V1 beep first I am not discounting that). Doing some math 1 second isnt much difference, and in that 1 second the escort is evaluating the threat of being real, or a false.

So instead of me jamming on my breaks and losing my cruise to a false alarm. Ide rather have that extra second of electronic evaluation to determine how accurate the threat is!

Last but not least customer service makes all the difference in the world, and escort has it!

Here is the BIGGEST slap in the face of it all. That grouchy lady who spoke condescending to me when I called back said "Sorry it's too late we wont ship out the unit until tomorrow" proves how much they care about their customers. Because 30 minutes later after my anger came down from the way she talked to me Barbera Carson from Escort mailed out my unit on friday. So how come escort could do it, and VR couldnt? POOOR FKKKNG CUSTOMER SERVICE TRASH!!!!!!!! SIMPLY TRASH !!!

Got damn Mike and his electronicsV1 is nice. I will not at all say any negative things about him, or his device. The man speaks Radar, and we here like radar talk! He needs to hire some teenagers who will work for minimum wage who absolutely love to chatter about electronics and take this grouch off the phones.

IM SO FREAKING EXCITED...I cannot wait to go home to play with my 9500ix on my computer.

Escort provides 5 star customer service.

This post is like the person who gives a hotel a poor review because the person at the front desk was supposedly rude to them. Doesn't matter anything else about the price, room , cleanliness, lack of bedbugs, etc.

On the flip side, if the person at the front desk was nice to them they give it 5 stars. Doesn't matter that there was bedbugs, dirty room, etc.

Your being cinic brother. That is a tunnel view statement. If someone is rude at a hotel definitely at a hotel I would quickly assume their hotel maids who change the sheets hate their job just as much as the front desk person, and there would be bed bugs so to speak.

Lets analyze your statement a bit more though. Ok... bad front desk rep, great hotel room, and bed the whole works is perfect other than the bad attitude of the front desk individual.
So acrossed the street was another 5 star hotel, but that front desk lady spoke to me golden and joyfull. Both hotels are 5 star ratings. So which do I want to give my money too now ?

Now ... it would be different if per say. Hotel 1 with rude front desk person was a 5 star hotel, and the other hotel acrossed the street that treated me good was a 4 star. I would still want the 5 star experience and brush aside the rude front desk person, and request a manager to expose this person ruining my experience with their service. All said and done, and I go to my room -end of story!
The problem here.. is I'm forced to choke down something I didnt like because I wanted the 5 star room! Scenario 1 was I had two five star hotels ;) V1, or Escort top end model ???

What I have been given by Escort exceeds a 1010 in customer service.
All of you reading this are V1 cinics. I know :) Because I threw rocks at anything without the arrows since 1.7, and then onto my 1.8. I talked crap about escort products or anything without the arrows without even having tried their product quickly concluding I have the best radar detector, and the GPS tech doesn apply to my needs. That was years ago, and things are RAPDILY changing (moores law).

Note: From what I have researched V1's patent on those arrows expiresexpired this year!
If escort adds arrows into their next unit, or unto the interfaced iphoneandroid screen to give a directional detection using a new radar detector. I will utilize the trade in option (Which VR doesnt provide), and get the new unit with the arrows.
Then V1 would have become 100% obsolete in this case!

Actually, the post from our Australian friend was funny.
Some of the prudish responses to it were ridiculous.
I've spoke to the lady before.
Referring to her as a "mean lady" is an understatement.
I don't care who she is or who she is sleeping with, she should be fired.

Sort of a rambling comment and hard to follow. I have to agree with Radar Roy and his edit of the comment.

The mean lady's attitude is why I decided against buying a Valentine1 and bought a Redline+Live instead. If I want to deal with a company with a snobby attitude, I'll buy an Apple product. - At least those are cutting edge.

(and yes, I know the V1 is a great detector. I had many saves because of it. I just wanted something more modern.)

Customer service is only as good as the person you're speaking with. Attitude is everything. All it takes is speaking with the right person to totally save a deal and or customer.

Mike is financially secure. Obviously his wife is too. Therefore its highly unlikely that he is married to the 'mean lady". Why would anyone in that position want to deal with people if they don't have to ?
