Switch from 9500i to valentine?
I Love my 9500i but can't help to keep watching videos and reading story's about the valentine walking all over the escort when it comes to range or I/O shots. I tend to do a lot of hwy driving but also drive in the city sometimes as well.
IYO do you think I should switch to a valentine 1?

You won't know until you try it. Free for 30 days.
Re: Switch from 9500i to valentine?
It will be night and day for falses though. V1 is really really chatty in the city. I don't mind falses but I unplug the V1 in the city, it drives me nuts.
Best of both worlds: if you can, keep your 9500i for the city and use the V1 on the hwy.
As Normsky said, 30 day try-out is the way to go

I have to agree with this also. It isn't very city friendly IMO.
Keep the 9500 for that.

I love my V1 in the city. In my area X band isn't used, so I have X turned off. K band I have on a short automute. Pretty quiet setup and when I do take a couple hour highway trip (a few times a month) the range and arrows are priceless.
Re: Switch from 9500i to valentine?
If you like having lockout you could try a Redline with Live. You will still be able to lock out falses, plus once Escort releases their "expert software" with bs/rdr it should make the Redline better on qt. and I/O.

I switched, but I use a RD primarily for highway driving. I purchased a 9500ix because I thought the ability to automatically lock out falses was very cool, and my wife complaned about the "noise" from my V1. Unfortunately, I had far too many close calls with the 9500ix on the highway. I returned the 9500ix and purchased a new V1. However, I have to admit, the 9500ix is much more pleasant to use in the city.

You gotta run two to get all you need. NOTHING will beat the V1 on the highway, yeah I know the redline has great range, but no arrows and not great on IO.
The V1 is not a good city RD, everyone knows this. Sure you can K band mute, etc. It is a radar locator and it will do its job always.
You really have to run one for a while to see what we are all talking about.
But I do run my Sti-R with it.
Re: Switch from 9500i to valentine?
will the 9500ix and V1 interfere with each other if you ran them together? i have contemplated running both, one on each side of the windshield and using the remote display for the V1.

They will definitely interfere with each other.
Re: Switch from 9500i to valentine?
I have one of each, in separate cars. The V1 clearly has better range, but it drives me crazy with false alerts. If V1 had the GPS or lockout option, it would be the hands-down winner. Until then, I prefer the 9500ix.

I agree with JBA. The quietness of the 9500ix can't be overstated. But I too feel like my warning on the highway was far too short. I learned to hammer the brakes on a Ka alert because it usually wasn't much of a "heads up". Unless they fell asleep in C/O, then I had warning. I also know this is the nature of the beast (with Ka) but I now have both a V1 and 9500ix. V1 for highway trips only though.
Re: Switch from 9500i to valentine?
I switched from 9500ix to V1 but the V1 is really pretty worthless in the city with the constant alerts. I'm more concerned about laser in town and I don't really speed in town so I turn down the volume and ignore it.
If they made a V1 with GPS I'd sell off my children to buy it. The 9500ix is wonderful in town. I should have kept both and used the 9500ix in town and the V1 on the highway.
