It Never Shuts Up !! What are my options? V1 3.863.

Greetings. Long time RD user going back to the original Escort. So I've been a happy V1 user for a long time now but in say the last year, maybe 2 (time flies!), the detector simply never shuts up on K-Band. I know it's the traffic signs, blind spot monitors and and so forth. I also would like to go steath but my older 2003 Mustang Vert offers few places to hide this thing. I do have the concealed display and I currently have the V1 above the mirror, sort of hidden by the pony emblem. It's not obvious, but with the top down of course people behind me can see the lights, especially at night. The concealed display is kind of useless because it's difficult to hide in the car without major surgery. Since.Since the solution to both questions will influence my decision, I'm asking both in one thread.

So my questions if I may are:

1. Upgrade? Plugged my serial in and it's $289 because it's an older model.

2. Sell the V1 and move on to one of the more "modern" units in the Belscort line?

If I decide to keep the V1 and upgrade with a little care in setting filters can I shut this thing up?
Also, for stealth I was thinking of getting the bluetooth and using an older Motorola Android I have
laying around and us it rather than the concealed display to go stealth?

Whatever I do, I plan on coupling it with some countermeasures because they mostly use Laser where I
live (Long Island, NY).

P.S. I've read through the 2 mega threads on this but most of the posts are older so I'm not sure what the current status is compared to whatever, if anything, has been updated on the V1 as well as the competition.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I also have an .863 that sits and collects dust because its just too "chatty" on k band when driving.
Also, the $289 "upgrade" is basically buying a new detector.

To answer your questions, (1) I'd sell the old V1 on fleabay and use the proceeds to buy a new V1. Should net out less than the $289 upgrade. (2) I'm personally using a Redline and am amazed at how quiet it is vs. the V1. And, you get amazing detection as a bonus!

Thanks Jerry and Saab (my son drives a 2006 Saab 9-3 with an RX65 BTW). I'm leaning toward buying a new V1 and flea-baying the current one. I'll toss in the concealed as a bonus as it's really useless to me cause I can't easily hide it in a Mustang vert without chopping things up a bit.So, next stupid question, is there an advantage of the iPhone YaV1 app over the Android version or vis-versa?Reason I ask is my normal phone is an iPhone 5s usually running Waze.I do have an older Android Razr Maxx laying around that I think will work fine.Also, I saw some post where a person was overlaying the V1 signals in YaV1 over the Waez app?Is that stable and does it work?If so, I would probably go the iPhone V1c BT adapter route.If not, I'll dedicate the older droid to the yaV1 and run Waez on the iPhone.For the record the Belscorts worry me a bit. Valentine has always been decent with updates and over the years my detector has not gone obsolete due to these firmware updates. I do wonder if Valentine has milked the cow to the limit though and maybe the technology in say the Redline (the only other device I would consider) has surpassed the V1?Tough choice... Again I'm on Long Island where it's mostly ka and big time with laser. Problem is all these rich people with fancy cars and radar gadgets clogging up the airwaves.A trip from say Eastern L.I. to NYC and the V1 never shuts up the entire way. That's how bad it is.

As a side note, Sunday traveling west on the Southern State Pkwy I got zapped by a NYS trooper using Laser.
He was on the shoulder up the embankment 90 degrees to the road. A quick look at the speedo and I was doing 70.. I think he aimed for the pony in the grill. The V1 went nuts. Hit me about 5 times, I let off the gas after the first one and I was amazed he didn't come after me because it was a clean kill.
Counter measures are next on my list.

are you running it in L or small L mode? If that doesn't work and your not going to get a new one then just disable X and K band. Most cops run Ka anyway

FYI, my new V1 just arrived, it does not go off on speed sensors or lane assists like the old one does. It still however detects drug stores and shopping centers the same as my old one. The K sensitivity is the same as my old one maybe slightly better and that is with the Junk K filter ON. I have not compared Ka yet.

Hi all... Just an update.. I ordered and received a brand new V1 with the V1C module. Even in stock mode it's way, way, way, quieter than my previous unit which is going up on fleabay.So now I've paired it with an ancient Razr Maxx phone I had laying around and working through YAv1 to create custom sweeps.I feel like I'm home again!After all these years it was hard for me to go to the dark side (BelScort) even though they make fine products.Valentine has always treated me well and I decided to continue supporting them.I'm glad I did.Next step is some countermeasures as laser is huge out here on L.I N.Y.

Runnin' it in C mode.

Why not program your V1 to mute for a few seconds in K band and run on small L mode.
