Of the "Upper End" of the Beltronics RD's, which one do you think is the "Best" of the bunch ?
RX65, the 50 or the Sti ?
Why ?
I'm thinking about getting a backup RD for my V1 and was thining of maybe the Rx65.

If there is need to have a RD that is invisible to RDD. IE; in Canada I would get the STI. For anything else I would suggest the RX65. Great features, great display, and great detection. I assume the 50 you are talking about is the X50 which I believe is a little outdated by the RX65. No matter what RD you pick you will be pleased with any of them. They are all great RD's
I would get the X50.....
As backup I would save my money and get a 995 or 955 or 895 or even try my luck with a 795. Other than that if I was to splurge on a "backup" in the price range of a rx65, I would get the STi only because it apparently has K band filtering in City mode, why Bel removed that in the newer line like the rx65 is beyond my comprehension. So I consider the STi a possible choice even if one is not worried about stealth, and again if money does not matter.
i went with an 8500 as the V1 backup
Why ??Quote:

It's 10% so the RX65 will cost you around $297.00 and get free shipping!

In all that I have read here it seems people are much happier with them, and a lot less problems. I didn't like the 65.Quote:

Too many falses, not sensitive enough ????
Thanks, Tim
It has nothing to do with falses or sensitivity. It is just more RX65 users have had more trouble with their RD then X50 users.
I didn't like the fact that it never went to full alert. I had an ISP trooper drive past me on a 2 lane road and shoot me with Instant on. I could have touched his car when he passed....got 4/9 LEDs. Same with speed signs. Never a full alert. I also don't like the fact that it will only show you one K, KA band at a time. The escort will show you 2 of each. I went to a V1 because of the arrows. But I want a X50 as back up. My V1 is as quiet as my 65 was. Some places it's quieter. :?Quote:

He does have a point with the full alert thing. Mine never gives a full alert and I hate that about it.Quote:

My 895 does this too. Has anyone talked to Bel about this or actually sent in a detector to have it tested by Bel? The 895 I have has picked up lots of radar including Ka but I can only remember it pegged out once while coming up to a HP on the side of the road with someone else pulled over.
I was wondering if the new M4 antenna on the RX65 took care of this problem of full alerts but no one seems to know
I belive that was the purpose but not sure if it worked.... :?Quote:

Why? That leads me to belive why most of the guys say X50 over 65... :?Quote:

I live in Maryland and it's NOT Illegal to have a RD, so I don't have to spend a larger amount for the STi, UNLESS..... it does have better performance than the RX65.
Tim
Check out the GOL web site....
Checked out the GOL tests.... very informative.Quote:

Although... OVERALL..... it looked like the V1 won more tests that the others.
Christ ! What the heck do I need to do.... buy THREE damn RD's ????
Tim
You just ordered a V1 why are you still looking?
Want a Back-up RD. Plus concerned about coverage.... seems like some of the Bel RD's detect some things better than the V1.Quote:

It's always good to have variety in your life.....
Funny how no one has suggested the STi yet ???
Is it because it's so new, or too many problems reported with it already?
Tim
Too hard to find and expensive.

Whoops.... Never Mind.... Just did it ! You just have to eneter the email contest.

On my V995 it has "pegged out" on "X" and "KA"....Seems to be as accurate as my 980 in that respect.Quote:

Mine (895) pegs all the time when I am near the source (about 300 feet or so)Quote:

Are you guys sure the Bel X65 M4 doesn't filter K in auto scan? From what I have seen I think it does. When I am in town and I am getting a lot of K falses I switch to auto scan and the RD goes slient. Also, the M4 running 6.1 software does peg if you get close to the radar source. I have tested this many times.
Don't know about the M4, but the Bel 895 doesn't filter out K band in AutoScan.Quote:
