Stalker Ka from trooper's tahoe?
I have a question about radar being used in chevy tahoe. i live in upstate N.Y and some of the trooper's patrol vehile's are tahoe's. They run stalker radar. It seems that when i have an incounter with one with radar the distance is less than with the crown vic's. It is not IO either in the taheo. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience like that? I wondered if the windshield in the tahoe was made of something that messed with the radar? any info. would be appreciated. My detector is a RX65.
Re: Stalker Ka from trooper's tahoe?
its really narrow beamwidth in the tahoes. they also run dodge suvs too with narrow Ka beamwidth usually with a K9 police patrol sign on the door rather than the more common police logos.. its only a front antenna and not a front/rear like the crown vics too, so its only half the power output, narrowly output from the front in a 12 degree arc.
damn sneaky NY cops...theyre starting to show now that summer is getting here. at least they frequent the same spots so you always know where they are. on the other hand i-190 has gone to 65 so im not over the limit by more than 8 usually anyway (rather than 18).

I'll have to pay attention to the distance on the Tahoe. I caught a trooper in a Tahoe beaming my lane of traffic from around the corner NW of Rome, NY on Route 69. The trooper left the Ka running so he was easy to spot with my RX65.
