Is this true about the V1?
Although I knew that the V1 had a rear antenna as well, I wasn't aware how much of a difference it actually made. I saw this illustration comparing the ranges of normal detectors and Valentines (the two overhead pictures of cars) on the Valentine website : http://www.valentine1.com/. Is this difference really that significant, and is Laser/Radar often a threat from behind? I was considering getting the X50 but after reading this and some reviews I am now unsure...is the V1 worth the extra $50?

YES.
I have both the X50 and the V1. I greatly prefer the V1.
The arrows alone make it worth the extra coin.

Some people turn off the rear antenna on there V1, it tends to be more catty with it on.
The V1 is more sensitive than all others and if you except a laser alert as "you have been tagged" you good to go.
If you don’t mind spending the measly $50 extra, do it.

You can't turn off the rear antenna on the Valentine 1. However, you can mute alerts from the rear antenna on k band under option G. This has no effect on the other bands.
