If you have magnet mount antenna, watch your Coil.
I had a Wilson 1000 magnet mount antenna where the coil inside the antenna went bad. When checked w/ a SWR meter, the meter said everything was fine. Well it wasn't and some things happened to that radio in the past. So please check your coaxial cable and Coil on your antenna every once in a while or it could cost your a lot of dollar$. Also wiping off the surface where you stick your magnet mount helps to keep it dry. Just want to "preserve" everyones equipment.

So how did you know it was bad if your SWR was OK?
Re: If you have magnet mount antenna, watch your Coil.
It fried the Ranger radio I was using at the time. I caught it "too late". Just keep tabs on your equipment that is all I am saying.

That sucks :( I just checked my stuff out today. I'm always spooked about cooking my amp.
A built in SWR meter is the only thing I wish my radio had...

Just remember, some meters can't detect falty equipment. Corrosion, rust, and cuts in your coaxial cable can and DO happen.

Perhaps your cable is bad?
